Setup and Fitting

Proper helmet fit is crucial for safety and comfort. The Giro Spur features the In Form Fit System and Vertical Tuning for easy adjustment.

1. Adjusting the Fit System

  1. Place the helmet on the head: Ensure the helmet sits level and covers the forehead without obstructing vision.
  2. Use the In Form Fit System dial: Locate the dial at the back of the helmet. Turn the dial clockwise to tighten the fit and counter-clockwise to loosen it. Adjust until the helmet feels snug but comfortable, without excessive pressure points.
  3. Adjust Vertical Tuning: The Vertical Tuning feature allows you to adjust the helmet's position on your head for optimal goggle integration and a personalized fit. Experiment with different vertical settings to find the most comfortable and secure position.

2. Securing the Chin Strap

  1. Fasten the buckle: Connect the two parts of the chin strap buckle securely under the chin.
  2. Adjust strap length: Tighten the strap until it is snug. You should be able to fit one to two fingers between the strap and your chin. The strap should not be too tight to cause discomfort, nor too loose to allow the helmet to shift significantly.

3. Goggle Integration

The included goggles are designed to fit seamlessly with the Spur helmet.

  1. Position goggles: Place the goggles over your eyes, ensuring the top edge of the goggle frame aligns with the bottom edge of the helmet.
  2. Secure goggle strap: Use the helmet's removable goggle retainer clip at the back to secure the goggle strap in place. This prevents the goggles from slipping during activity.

Operating Instructions

Once properly fitted, the Giro Spur helmet and goggles are ready for use in winter sports activities such as skiing and snowboarding.

Ventilation System

The helmet is equipped with Super Cool Vents. These vents are strategically placed to allow hot air to escape from inside the helmet, helping to regulate temperature and keep the wearer comfortable. No manual adjustment is required for these vents; they are designed for passive airflow.

Goggle Features

The matching goggles feature a dual lens design with an anti-fog coating. This technology helps to prevent fogging, ensuring clear vision in varying conditions. The double-layer face foam provides a comfortable seal against the face.

Care and Maintenance

Regular care will extend the life and maintain the performance of your Giro Spur helmet and goggles.

Helmet Cleaning

  1. Exterior: Clean the helmet's exterior with a soft cloth, mild soap, and water. Avoid harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners, as these can damage the helmet's finish or materials.
  2. Interior: The soft interior padding and removable ear pads can be gently hand-washed with mild soap and water. Allow them to air dry completely before reattaching to the helmet.
  3. Drying: Allow the helmet to air dry completely at room temperature. Do not expose it to direct heat sources like radiators or direct sunlight, as this can damage the EPS liner.

Goggle Care

  1. Lens Cleaning: Use a soft goggle bag or a microfiber cloth to gently wipe the goggle lens. For stubborn smudges, lightly dampen the cloth with water. Do not rub the inner lens surface vigorously, as this can damage the anti-fog coating.
  2. Frame and Strap: Clean the goggle frame and strap with mild soap and water. Rinse thoroughly and air dry.

Storage

Store the helmet and goggles in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. Use the original packaging or a helmet bag to protect them from scratches and dust when not in use.
