1. Introduction
Thank you for choosing the Safeliveo CO03 Carbon Monoxide Detector. This device is designed to provide reliable detection of carbon monoxide (CO) gas, helping to protect you and your family from its dangers. It features an LCD display, replaceable batteries, and a test button, and is certified to EN 50291 standards. Please read this manual carefully before installation and use, and keep it for future reference.

2. Important Safety Information
Carbon monoxide (CO) is a colorless, odorless, and tasteless gas that can be fatal. This detector is designed to alert you to the presence of CO, but it is not a substitute for proper maintenance of fuel-burning appliances, including ventilation and exhaust systems. Always follow these safety guidelines:
- DO NOT paint the detector. Paint can clog the vents and interfere with the sensor's ability to detect CO.
- DO NOT block the detector's vents.
- Regularly test the detector as instructed in this manual.
- If the alarm sounds, immediately move to fresh air and call emergency services.
- This detector is not suitable for use in hazardous locations as defined by the National Electrical Code.
3. Product Features
- Replaceable Batteries: Includes 2 replaceable AA batteries with approximately 1 year of life. A low battery alert (yellow LED and signal every 60 seconds) indicates replacement is needed.
- Low CO Concentration Alert: Alarms when 20 ppm of CO is detected for 35 minutes, complying with EN 50291-1:2018.
- Flexible Placement: Compact design (105 × 32.7 × 60 mm) allows for freestanding placement on flat surfaces or wall mounting with included screws.
- CO Peak Memory: Records the maximum CO level that triggered an alert and retains data for 3 days. A red LED flashes twice every 50 seconds during this period.
- Test and Silence Button: Press once to test the alarm (sound increases gradually). Press briefly to silence the alarm for 9 minutes (red light flashes slowly). Silencing is not possible if CO concentration exceeds 300 ppm.
- Clear LCD Display: Shows current CO concentration, with a minimum reading of 10 ppm.
- Three-Color LED Indicator: Red for alarm, Yellow for error or low battery, Green for normal operation. The green standby indicator can be activated or deactivated by quickly double-pressing the test button.
- 10-Year Sensor Life: The sensor is designed for long-term reliability.

5.3 Recommended Placement Locations
For optimal protection, install CO detectors in the following areas:
- On every level of your home, including the basement.
- Near sleeping areas.
- In rooms with fuel-burning appliances (e.g., furnace, water heater, fireplace).
- In caravans or during travel in enclosed spaces where CO may accumulate.
Avoid placing the detector:
- Within 1 meter (3 feet) of fuel-burning appliances.
- In direct sunlight or areas with extreme temperatures.
- In areas with high humidity (e.g., bathrooms).
- Near vents, doors, or windows where air currents might dilute CO.
- Behind curtains or furniture that could obstruct the sensor.

6. Operation
6.1 Normal Operation
Once batteries are installed, the detector will perform a self-test. The green LED will flash, and the LCD will typically display '0' indicating no CO is detected and the device is functioning correctly. The green standby indicator can be toggled on/off by quickly double-pressing the test button.
6.2 Test Function
To test the detector's functionality:
- Press the 'TEST' button once.
- The alarm sound will gradually increase, and the red LED will flash, confirming the device is working. The LCD may show a test value (e.g., '260' as seen in some diagrams).
Video: Demonstrates pressing the test button, showing the alarm sounding and the display changing, confirming correct operation.
6.3 CO Detection and Alarm Levels
The detector will activate an alarm based on the following CO concentration levels and exposure times, in compliance with EN 50291-1:2018:
| CO Concentration | Alarm Activation Time |
|---|---|
| ≥20 PPM | >30 minutes |
| ≥50 PPM | 60-90 minutes |
| ≥100 PPM | 10-40 minutes |
| ≥300 PPM | <3 minutes |

Image: Table showing CO concentration levels and corresponding alarm activation times.
Video: Shows the CO detector being tested near a car exhaust, demonstrating a rapid increase in CO levels on the display and immediate alarm activation at 999 ppm.
6.4 Silence Function
If the alarm sounds due to CO detection, you can temporarily silence it:
- Press the 'TEST' button briefly during an alarm.
- The alarm will silence for 9 minutes, and the red LED will flash slowly.
- Note: The silence function is disabled if the CO concentration exceeds 300 ppm.
6.5 CO Peak Memory
If you are away when a CO alarm occurs, the detector will automatically record the highest CO level detected. This data is retained for 3 days. During this period, the red LED will flash twice every 50 seconds to indicate that a CO event has occurred.
7. Maintenance
7.1 Battery Replacement
When the yellow LED flashes once every 60 seconds and a signal sounds, the batteries are low and need to be replaced. Replace both AA batteries simultaneously with new ones.
7.2 Cleaning
Dust and debris can affect the detector's performance. Clean the detector regularly by gently wiping the exterior with a damp cloth. Do not use cleaning sprays or solvents.
7.3 Regular Testing
It is recommended to test your CO detector monthly to ensure it is functioning correctly. Follow the instructions in section 6.2 (Test Function).
8. Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Alarm sounds continuously | High CO concentration detected | Evacuate to fresh air immediately. Call emergency services. Do not re-enter until the area is cleared. |
| Yellow LED flashes and signal sounds every 60 seconds | Low battery | Replace both AA batteries. |
| Yellow LED flashes and signal sounds irregularly | Sensor fault or device malfunction | Perform a test. If the issue persists, contact customer support. Replace the unit if necessary. |
| No display or power | Batteries not installed or dead | Ensure batteries are correctly installed and have sufficient charge. Replace if necessary. |
