1. Introduction

This manual provides instructions for the installation and maintenance of the FJSaDobo replacement kit, which includes an air filter, spark plug, primer bulb, and fuel filter. This kit is designed for use with Stihl chainsaw models MS171, MS171C, MS181, MS181C, MS211, and MS211C. Regular replacement of these components is crucial for maintaining optimal chainsaw performance and extending its lifespan.

The kit replaces OEM parts 1139 120 1602 and 1139 007 1800.

2. Safety Information

Always prioritize safety when working with power tools and their components. Failure to follow safety guidelines can result in serious injury or damage to equipment.

• Ensure the chainsaw engine is off and cool before performing any maintenance or part replacement.
• Disconnect the spark plug wire to prevent accidental starting.
• Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), including gloves and eye protection.
• Refer to your chainsaw's original owner's manual for specific safety instructions and procedures.
• Keep all parts and tools away from children and pets.

3. Components Overview

This kit includes the following components:

• Air Filter (x2): Essential for preventing dust and debris from entering the engine, ensuring clean air intake.
• Spark Plug (x1): Provides the spark to ignite the fuel-air mixture in the engine's combustion chamber.
• Fuel Filter (x1): Filters impurities from the fuel before it reaches the carburetor, protecting the engine.
• Primer Bulb (x1): Used to prime the carburetor with fuel, assisting in easier starting.

4. Installation Guide

Before beginning, ensure the chainsaw is turned off, the engine is cool, and the spark plug wire is disconnected.

4.1. Air Filter Replacement

1. Locate the air filter cover on your Stihl chainsaw. This is typically on the top or side of the engine housing.
2. Unlatch or unscrew the air filter cover and carefully remove it.
3. Remove the old air filter. Note its orientation.
4. Clean any debris from the air filter housing.
5. Insert the new FJSaDobo air filter, ensuring it is seated correctly.
6. Replace the air filter cover and secure it.

4.2. Spark Plug Replacement

1. Locate the spark plug boot and pull it off the spark plug.
2. Using a spark plug wrench, carefully unscrew the old spark plug.
3. Inspect the old spark plug for signs of wear or fouling.
4. Thread the new FJSaDobo spark plug into the engine by hand to avoid cross-threading.
5. Tighten the spark plug with the wrench, but do not overtighten.
6. Reconnect the spark plug boot firmly.

4.3. Fuel Filter Replacement

1. Carefully open the fuel tank cap.
2. Using a hook or pliers, gently pull the fuel line with the old fuel filter out of the tank opening.
3. Disconnect the old fuel filter from the fuel line. Be prepared for a small amount of fuel to drip.
4. Attach the new FJSaDobo fuel filter to the fuel line.
5. Carefully reinsert the fuel line and new filter into the fuel tank.
6. Securely close the fuel tank cap.

4.4. Primer Bulb Replacement

1. Locate the primer bulb assembly on your chainsaw.
2. Carefully disconnect the fuel lines attached to the old primer bulb. Note which line goes to which port.
3. Remove the old primer bulb from its housing.
4. Install the new FJSaDobo primer bulb into the housing.
5. Reconnect the fuel lines to the new primer bulb in the correct orientation.
6. Press the primer bulb several times to ensure fuel flows and there are no leaks.

5. Maintenance

Regular maintenance of these components is vital for the longevity and efficient operation of your chainsaw.

• Air Filter: Check the air filter before each use or after every 5-10 hours of operation. Clean or replace if visibly dirty or clogged. A dirty air filter can lead to reduced engine power and increased fuel consumption.
• Spark Plug: Inspect the spark plug annually or every 50 hours of operation. Replace if electrodes are worn, fouled, or if the engine experiences starting difficulties or misfires.
• Fuel Filter: Replace the fuel filter annually or if you notice fuel delivery issues, such as the engine sputtering or losing power.
• Primer Bulb: Inspect the primer bulb for cracks or hardening. Replace if it loses its elasticity or shows signs of damage, as this can affect starting.

6. Troubleshooting

If your chainsaw experiences issues, consider the following related to the kit components:

• Engine won't start: Check the spark plug for proper connection and condition. Ensure the primer bulb is functioning and delivering fuel. Verify the fuel filter is not clogged.
• Loss of power or rough running: A dirty air filter can restrict airflow, leading to poor engine performance. A faulty spark plug can cause misfires. A clogged fuel filter can starve the engine of fuel.
• Excessive smoke: While not directly caused by these parts, a very dirty air filter can sometimes contribute to an overly rich fuel mixture.

If issues persist after checking and replacing these components, consult a qualified service technician or your chainsaw's original manual for further troubleshooting.
