2. Important Safety Instructions

When using electrical appliances, basic safety precautions should always be followed to reduce the risk of fire, electric shock, and injury to persons, including the following:

4. Setup

4. First Use (Water Only): Fill the urn with water to the maximum fill line. Close the lid and plug the unit into a grounded electrical outlet. Turn on the power switch and allow the water to heat to boiling. Dispense a few cups of hot water to flush the system. Discard this water. This process helps to remove any manufacturing residues.

5. Operating Instructions

1. Prepare Coffee Grounds: For optimal results, use coarse-ground coffee. The recommended ratio is approximately 0.5 to 0.75 pounds of coffee grounds per 14 liters (100 cups) of water, adjustable to taste.
2. Add Water: Fill the urn with cold, fresh water up to the desired level, not exceeding the maximum fill line. The water level indicator will assist you.
3. Add Coffee Grounds: Place the coffee grounds into the internal filter basket. Ensure the filter is properly seated.
4. Secure Lid: Place the lid securely on the urn.
5. Power On: Plug the power cord into a grounded electrical outlet. Flip the power switch to the 'ON' position. The indicator light will illuminate, typically red, indicating that the heating process has begun.

6. Cleaning and Maintenance

Regular cleaning ensures optimal performance and extends the life of your coffee urn.

1. Unplug and Cool: Always unplug the urn from the electrical outlet and allow it to cool completely before cleaning.
2. Empty Contents: Drain any remaining coffee or water from the urn using the spigot.
3. Disassemble: Remove the lid and the internal filter basket.
4. Wash Components: Wash the lid, filter basket, and spigot (if removable) with warm, soapy water. Rinse thoroughly and dry.
5. Clean Interior: Clean the interior of the urn with a soft brush or sponge and warm, soapy water. For stubborn stains, a non-abrasive cleaner designed for stainless steel can be used. Rinse the interior thoroughly, ensuring no soap residue remains.
