1. Introduction

This manual provides instructions for the installation, operation, and maintenance of your youkey S420 Solar Security Camera. The S420 is a wireless outdoor security camera designed for home surveillance, featuring 2.5K resolution, 24/7 Always-on Video (AOV) recording, AI detection, and dual solar power for continuous operation.

3. Product Overview

The youkey S420 camera is designed for robust outdoor performance. It features a compact, weatherproof design with an integrated solar panel and an additional external solar panel for enhanced power efficiency. Key components include the camera lens, motion sensor, spotlight, microphone, speaker, and a USB-C port for charging.

4. Setup

4.1 App Installation

Download the youkey app from your smartphone's app store (iOS or Android).
Create an account or log in if you already have one.

4.2 Camera Pairing

Power on the camera.
Open the youkey app and follow the on-screen instructions to add a new device.
Use Bluetooth pairing for easy setup and a faster network connection.
Ensure your Wi-Fi network is 2.4GHz for compatibility.

4.3 Physical Installation

The camera can be wall-mounted using the provided brackets. Position the camera and external solar panel to receive at least 1 hour of direct sunlight daily for optimal charging.

5. Operating the Camera

5.1 24/7 Continuous Recording (AOV)

The S420 utilizes Always-on Video (AOV) technology to provide continuous 24/7 recording, ensuring no critical moments are missed. This technology allows for a longer detection range compared to traditional PIR sensors.

5.2 Smart AI Detection

The camera features AI-powered image detection for accurate identification of humans and vehicles, reducing false alarms. This AI detection is available without any subscription fees.

5.3 2.5K Color Night Vision

The S420 delivers clear 2.5K resolution video. For night surveillance, it offers both black-and-white infrared night vision and full-color night vision using built-in spotlights, capturing rich details even in low-light conditions.

5.4 Two-Way Audio & Alarm

The camera supports two-way audio communication, allowing you to speak through the camera and hear responses. It also includes a built-in siren and spotlight alarm that can be triggered manually or automatically upon detection to deter intruders.

5.5 App Features

The youkey app provides a comprehensive interface for managing your camera:

Live View: Access real-time video feed.
Playback: Review recorded footage from your local storage or cloud.
Digital Fence: Set up virtual boundaries to trigger alerts when crossed.
Privacy Zones: Define areas within the camera's view that will not be recorded.
Detection Sensitivity: Adjust the sensitivity of motion detection.

6. Storage & Expansion

6.1 MicroSD Card Storage

The camera supports local storage via a microSD card (up to 256GB, not included). This allows you to store recordings securely without monthly fees.

6.2 youkey Hub H310 Compatibility

For advanced features and expanded storage, the S420 is compatible with the youkey Hub H310 (sold separately). The Hub provides 16GB built-in eMMC storage and supports expansion up to 16TB, along with advanced AI capabilities like high-precision face recognition and cross-camera tracking.

6.3 Cloud Storage

Optional cloud storage services may be available through the youkey app for additional backup and accessibility.

7. Maintenance

7.1 Solar Panel Care

Regularly clean the surface of both the integrated and external solar panels to ensure maximum sunlight absorption and charging efficiency. Remove any dust, dirt, or snow that may obstruct the panels.

7.2 Weather Resistance

The S420 camera has an IP67 weatherproof rating, making it resistant to rain, snow, and harsh weather conditions. Ensure all ports are securely covered to maintain water resistance.

7.3 Battery Management

Monitor the battery level through the youkey app. The dual solar solution helps maintain charge, but in prolonged low-light conditions, the camera can also be charged via its USB-C port.

8. Troubleshooting

Camera Not Connecting: Ensure your Wi-Fi signal is strong at the installation location. The camera is compatible with 2.4GHz Wi-Fi networks.
Frequent Disconnections: If the camera is too far from your router, consider moving it closer or using a Wi-Fi extender.
Battery Drain: In high-traffic areas or prolonged periods without sunlight, the battery may drain faster. Ensure solar panels are clean and optimally positioned.
False Alarms: Adjust detection sensitivity and configure digital fence/privacy zones in the app to minimize unwanted alerts.
Camera Restart: If the camera becomes unresponsive, a physical restart may be required. This typically involves accessing the reset button or temporarily disconnecting power.
