5.3 Repeater Mode Setup (Recommended for extending Wi-Fi)

Method 1: WPS (Wi-Fi Protected Setup)

WPS is the easiest way to set up the repeater if your main router supports it.

  1. Plug the KAP-X330 into an electrical outlet near your main router.
  2. Press the WPS button on your main router.
  3. Within 2 minutes, press the WPS button on the KAP-X330.
  4. Wait for the Wi-Fi signal LED on the KAP-X330 to turn solid, indicating a successful connection.
  5. You can now unplug the repeater and move it to a location between your router and the Wi-Fi dead zone. Ensure the signal LED remains solid for optimal performance.

Method 2: Web Browser Setup

Use this method if your router does not have a WPS button or if WPS fails.

  1. Plug the KAP-X330 into an electrical outlet.
  2. On your computer or mobile device, connect to the Wi-Fi network named 'Wireless-N' (or similar, check the device label) which is broadcast by the repeater. No password is required initially.
  3. Open a web browser and enter the default IP address (e.g., 192.168.10.1 or 192.168.1.254 - refer to the device label or manual for the exact IP).
  4. Enter the default username and password (usually 'admin' for both).
  5. Follow the on-screen wizard to select 'Repeater Mode'.
  6. Scan for available Wi-Fi networks and select your main router's network.
  7. Enter the password for your main router's Wi-Fi network.
  8. Configure the repeater's Wi-Fi name (SSID) and password. You can choose to keep it the same as your main network or create a new one.
  9. Save the settings and wait for the repeater to restart.
  10. Once restarted, the Wi-Fi signal LED should be solid. You can now move the repeater to an optimal location.

5.4 Access Point (AP) Mode Setup

In AP mode, the repeater connects to your router via an Ethernet cable and creates a new Wi-Fi network.

  1. Plug the KAP-X330 into an electrical outlet.
  2. Connect an Ethernet cable from your main router's LAN port to the LAN port on the KAP-X330.
  3. On your computer or mobile device, connect to the Wi-Fi network named 'Wireless-N' (or similar) broadcast by the repeater.
  4. Open a web browser and enter the default IP address (e.g., 192.168.10.1).
  5. Enter the default username and password ('admin' for both).
  6. Follow the on-screen wizard to select 'AP Mode'.
  7. Configure the new Wi-Fi network name (SSID) and password for the AP.
  8. Save the settings and wait for the repeater to restart.
  9. Your new Wi-Fi network is now active.

6. Operating Instructions

6.1 Optimal Placement

For best performance in Repeater Mode, place the KAP-X330 halfway between your main router and the area where you need improved Wi-Fi coverage. Ensure the signal LED on the repeater indicates a strong connection to your main router.

6.2 Connecting Devices

Once the repeater is configured, devices can connect to its extended Wi-Fi network using the configured SSID and password. For wired devices, use the LAN port.

6.3 LAN Port Usage

The 10/100 Mbps LAN port can be used to connect wired devices such as desktop computers, gaming consoles (e.g., Xbox), smart TVs, or network printers directly to the repeater for a stable wired connection.
