2. Product Overview
The MEGAWISE KF-818 Espresso Machine is designed to prepare espresso, cappuccino, and latte beverages. It features a 20-bar pump, steam milk frother, and precise temperature control.

3. Initial Setup
Before first use, or after extended periods of non-use, follow these steps to prepare your espresso machine:

- Install and Fill Water Tank: Install the water tank and fill it with fresh, cold water up to the MAX level.
- Position Cup: Place an empty cup under the steam wand.
- Turn Steam Knob: Turn the steam knob to the steam/hot water position.
- Initiate Hot Water Flow: Press the single or double cup button to let hot water flow for approximately 10 seconds. This primes the system.
- Return Knob: Return the steam knob to the OFF position.
- Your espresso machine is now ready for use.
4. Operating Instructions
4.1 Making Espresso
- Prepare Coffee Grounds: Grind fresh coffee beans to a fine espresso grind. Fill the portafilter basket with the desired amount of coffee grounds (single or double shot).
- Tamp Firmly: Level and tamp the coffee grounds firmly with approximately 10kg of pressure. Ensure the surface is even.
- Insert Portafilter: Insert the portafilter into the group head and turn it firmly to the right until it is securely locked.
- Place Cup: Place your espresso cup(s) under the portafilter spouts.
- Brew Espresso: Press the single or double cup button. The machine will begin extracting espresso. The pressure gauge will indicate the brewing pressure.
- Stop Brewing: The machine will automatically stop when the programmed volume is reached. You can also manually stop it by pressing the button again.

4.2 Frothing Milk
- Prepare Steam Wand: Ensure the machine is heated and the steam function is ready (indicator light solid). Purge any residual water from the steam wand by briefly opening the steam knob.
- Position Milk Pitcher: Fill a cold milk pitcher with cold milk (dairy or non-dairy) to just below the spout. Submerge the steam wand tip just below the surface of the milk.
- Activate Steam: Turn the steam knob to the steam position. Hold the pitcher at an angle, moving it slightly up and down to create micro-foam.
- Monitor Temperature: Continue frothing until the milk reaches the desired temperature (approximately 140-150°F or 60-65°C). The pitcher will become hot to the touch.
- Stop Steam: Turn the steam knob to the OFF position and remove the milk pitcher.
- Clean Steam Wand: Immediately wipe the steam wand with a damp cloth to prevent milk residue from drying. Briefly purge steam again to clear any internal blockages.
5. Cleaning and Maintenance
5.1 Daily Cleaning
- Portafilter and Filter Basket: After each use, remove the portafilter, discard used coffee grounds, and rinse the portafilter and filter basket under warm water.
- Drip Tray: Empty and rinse the drip tray regularly.
- Water Tank: Empty and rinse the water tank daily, refilling with fresh water.
- Exterior: Wipe the exterior of the machine with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners.
5.2 Descaling
Regular descaling is essential to maintain machine performance and extend its lifespan. The frequency depends on water hardness and usage. Refer to the full manual for detailed descaling instructions, typically involving a descaling solution and running it through the machine.
6. Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your espresso machine, consult the following common problems and solutions:
