5. Setup and Installation
The installation process for the YUCHENGTECH grease trap is designed to be straightforward. Follow these steps carefully:
- Unpack Components: Carefully remove all components from the packaging and verify against the packing list (Figure 2).
- Choose Location: Select a flat, stable surface for placement. The unit can be placed directly under a sink without occupying excessive space.
- Connect Inlet: Connect the grease inlet of the trap to the drain pipe of your sink or dishwasher. Ensure a secure and watertight connection.
- Install Baffles and Basket: Place the four baffle plates and the filter basket inside the grease trap as shown in Figure 4. The baffles create the 6-layer filtration system.
- Connect Water Outlet: Attach the provided drain pipe to the water outlet of the grease trap. Direct this pipe to your wastewater drainage system.
- Install Oil Outlet Valve: Screw the oil drain valve into the threaded oil outlet on the side of the unit. Ensure it is tightly closed before operation.
- Secure Lid: Place the lid on top of the grease trap and secure it with the fastening buckles to ensure a good seal and prevent odors.
- Final Check: Before use, double-check all connections for tightness and ensure the unit is stable.

6. Operating Instructions
The YUCHENGTECH grease trap utilizes a high-efficiency 6-layer filtration system to separate oil and water effectively.
- Initial Operation: Once installed, wastewater from your sink or dishwasher will flow into the grease trap through the grease inlet.
- Food Scraps Collection: The filter basket will capture larger food scraps and debris, preventing them from entering the main separation chambers.
- Oil-Water Separation: As water flows through the baffled chambers, grease and oil, being less dense, will rise and accumulate in the designated grease area. The cleaner water will flow under the baffles and exit through the water outlet.
- Grease Accumulation: Over time, a layer of grease will build up in the grease area.
- Water Discharge: The separated water, significantly reduced in grease content, will exit the unit through the water outlet into your drainage system.

7. Maintenance
Regular maintenance is crucial for the efficient operation and longevity of your grease trap. The practical design with a removable basket and detachable baffles makes cleaning easy.
- Empty Food Scraps Basket: Periodically remove the filter basket and dispose of collected food scraps. The frequency depends on usage.
- Drain Accumulated Grease: When a significant amount of grease has accumulated, open the oil drain valve to drain the separated grease into a suitable container for disposal. Ensure the container is heat-resistant if draining hot grease.
- Clean Interior: For thorough cleaning, detach the baffles and remove them from the unit. Clean the interior of the grease trap, baffles, and basket with warm, soapy water. The thickened PP material is corrosion-resistant and easy to clean.
- Inspect Seals: Check the sealing ring and lid for any damage or wear. The anti-odor rings help prevent odors from escaping. Replace if necessary to maintain a good seal.
- Reassemble: After cleaning, reassemble the baffles and basket, ensuring they are correctly positioned. Close the oil drain valve and secure the lid.

8. Troubleshooting
If you encounter any issues with your grease trap, refer to the following common problems and solutions:
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Slow drainage or clogging | Filter basket is full of food scraps; Grease accumulation is too high; Drain pipe is obstructed. | Empty the filter basket. Drain accumulated grease. Check and clear any obstructions in the drain pipe. Increase cleaning frequency. |
| Water leakage | Loose connections; Damaged sealing ring or lid; Oil drain valve not fully closed. | Tighten all inlet and outlet connections. Inspect the sealing ring and lid for damage and replace if necessary. Ensure the oil drain valve is securely closed. |
| Unpleasant odors | Grease trap needs cleaning; Lid not properly sealed; Anti-odor rings are damaged. | Perform a thorough cleaning of the entire unit. Ensure the lid is securely fastened. Check and replace anti-odor rings if damaged. |
| Ineffective oil separation | Baffles incorrectly installed; Excessive flow rate; Unit is overfilled. | Ensure baffles are correctly positioned according to the diagram. Reduce the flow rate into the trap if possible. Do not allow the unit to become overfilled with grease. |
