3. Setup

3.1. Battery Installation

  1. Ensure the saw is turned off and the trigger is locked.
  2. Align the battery pack with the battery port on the bottom of the saw handle.
  3. Slide the battery pack into the port until it clicks securely into place. Ensure it is fully seated to prevent accidental disconnection during operation.

Note: This tool is compatible with DeWalt 20V MAX batteries. Battery and charger are not included with the tool.

3.2. Blade Installation and Removal

The saw features a tool-free quick-blade change mechanism.

  1. To Install a Blade:
    • Ensure the saw is disconnected from the battery.
    • Rotate the blade clamp lever counter-clockwise to open the blade clamp.
    • Insert the blade shank fully into the blade clamp opening.
    • Release the blade clamp lever. The blade should be securely locked in place. Gently pull on the blade to confirm it is locked.
  2. To Remove a Blade:
    • Ensure the saw is disconnected from the battery.
    • Rotate the blade clamp lever counter-clockwise to open the blade clamp.
    • Pull the blade straight out from the clamp.
    • Release the blade clamp lever.

4. Operating Instructions

4.1. Starting and Stopping the Saw

  1. To Start: Press the variable speed trigger. The saw will start, and the LED light will illuminate the work area.
  2. To Stop: Release the variable speed trigger.

4.2. Variable Speed Control

The saw features a variable speed trigger. The further the trigger is pressed, the faster the blade will reciprocate. This allows for optimal cutting speed based on the material and desired finish.

4.3. Using the LED Light

The integrated LED light automatically activates when the trigger is pressed, providing illumination to the cutting line. This is particularly useful in dimly lit environments or when working in confined spaces.

4.4. Pivoting Shoe and Adjustable Frame

The saw is equipped with a pivoting shoe and a 60° adjustable frame. This allows the shoe to pivot against the workpiece, providing stability and control during cuts. The adjustable frame enables multi-angle cuts, enhancing versatility.

4.5. Cutting Capacity

The Mellif Reciprocating Saw is capable of cutting various materials:

  • Soft Steel: Up to 0.6 inches thick.
  • Aluminum: Up to 0.8 inches thick.

Always select the appropriate blade for the material being cut. An 18TPI blade is recommended for smoother finishes and less debris.

5. Maintenance

5.1. General Cleaning

  • Always disconnect the battery before cleaning.
  • Use a clean, damp cloth to wipe down the exterior of the saw. Do not use harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners.

5.2. Blade Care

6. Troubleshooting

Blade is loose or falls out. Blade not properly secured in the clamp. Re-insert blade, ensuring the clamp lever locks it firmly. Pull gently to test security.

Saw overheats. Blocked ventilation or prolonged heavy use. Clear ventilation openings. Allow tool to cool down.
