Operating Instructions

For Hot Foods:

  1. Pre-heating (Recommended): For best heat retention, pre-heat the jar by filling it with hot water (not boiling) for 5-10 minutes. Empty the hot water before adding food.
  2. Filling: Pour your hot food into the jar. Do not overfill; leave a small space below the rim to allow for lid closure and prevent spills.
  3. Sealing: Securely attach the integrated inner lid/seal unit, then screw on the outer lid tightly to ensure an airtight seal.
  4. Retention: The jar maintains food temperature above 144.0°F (62°C) for up to 6 hours.

For Cold Foods:

  1. Pre-cooling (Recommended): For best cold retention, pre-cool the jar by filling it with cold water or ice for 5-10 minutes. Empty before adding food.
  2. Filling: Place your cold food into the jar. Do not overfill.
  3. Sealing: Securely attach the integrated inner lid/seal unit, then screw on the outer lid tightly to ensure an airtight seal.
  4. Retention: The jar maintains food temperature below 54.3°F (11°C) for up to 6 hours.

The jar features a round mouth design for comfortable eating directly from the container.

  • Dishwasher Safe: All parts of the JEF-500 soup jar are dishwasher safe. Place components on the top rack for best results.

Troubleshooting

  • Food not staying hot/cold:
    • Ensure the lids are screwed on tightly to create a proper seal.
    • Verify that the integrated seal unit is correctly seated.
    • Confirm pre-heating or pre-cooling steps were followed.
    • Avoid opening the jar frequently, as this reduces temperature retention.
  • Lid difficult to open:
    • A vacuum may form inside. Try twisting the outer lid firmly. If still stuck, run warm water over the outer lid for a few seconds to expand it slightly.
  • Unpleasant odors:
    • Ensure all parts are thoroughly cleaned and dried after each use.
    • For persistent odors, a mixture of baking soda and water can be used for soaking, followed by thorough rinsing.
