1. Overview

The SOLITY GT5BK Smart Lock provides advanced security and convenient access for your home or office. This lock integrates multiple entry methods including fingerprint recognition, smartphone app control, PIN codes, and traditional mechanical keys. Designed for durability and smart home compatibility, the GT5BK offers a reliable and flexible security solution.

4. Installation

Before installation, ensure your door meets the compatibility requirements:

  • Door Thickness: 1-3/8" to 2" (35mm-50mm)
  • Door Hole Diameter: 2-1/8" (54mm)
  • Backset: 2-3/8" or 2-3/4" (60mm or 70mm)

The deadbolt latch can be adjusted between 60mm and 70mm backsets by rotating the body while holding the front of the latch. The lock features auto-orientation detection, simplifying setup for both left-handed and right-handed doors.

Installation Steps:

  1. Prepare the door according to the dimensions shown in Figure 4.1. If replacing an existing deadbolt, remove it.
  2. Install the deadbolt latch into the door edge. Ensure the black turning part of the latch assembly is centered. Adjust the backset if necessary.
  3. Mount the exterior assembly of the smart lock. Ensure the spindle passes through the latch mechanism.
  4. Install the interior mounting plate. Secure it with the provided screws. Use the appropriate screw length for your door thickness.
  5. Connect the cable from the exterior assembly to the interior assembly.
  6. Mount the interior assembly onto the mounting plate. Secure it with screws.
  7. Install 4 AA alkaline batteries into the battery compartment.
  8. Test the lock's basic functionality with the mechanical key.

Important Note: The keypad will only display numbers (beyond * and #) after the lock has been paired with the SMARTSOLITY mobile app and an account has been set up. This is a critical step for initial programming.

5. Setup and Programming

5.1 Initial Setup and Master Code

Upon first use, the default Master Code is 123456. It is highly recommended to change this immediately for security purposes. The Master Code is required for all programming functions.

  1. Touch the keypad to activate it.
  2. Enter the current Master Code (default: 123456) followed by the '#' key.
  3. Follow the voice prompts or on-screen instructions to change the Master Code to a new 6-10 digit code.

5.2 SMARTSOLITY App Setup

The SMARTSOLITY app provides full remote management and is essential for unlocking all smart features.

  1. Download the SMARTSOLITY app from your device's app store.
  2. Create an account and log in.
  3. Follow the in-app instructions to add your GT5BK Smart Lock. This typically involves scanning a QR code or entering a device ID.
  4. Ensure your lock is connected to your home Wi-Fi network for remote functionality. A stable internet connection is required.

5.3 Adding Fingerprints

The GT5BK supports fingerprint recognition for quick access.

  1. Access the fingerprint management section in the SMARTSOLITY app or via the lock's keypad programming menu (requires Master Code).
  2. Follow the prompts to register a new fingerprint. You will typically need to place your finger on the sensor multiple times from different angles.
  3. Test the registered fingerprint to ensure it unlocks the door.

5.4 Adding PIN Codes

You can create up to 100 unique PIN codes for various users.

  1. Access the PIN code management section in the SMARTSOLITY app or via the lock's keypad programming menu (requires Master Code).
  2. Select to add a new user or guest code.
  3. Enter a new 6-10 digit PIN code.
  4. Utilize the Anti-Peeping Password feature by entering random digits before and after your actual PIN code to prevent others from guessing it. For example, if your code is 123456, you can enter 987123456321.
  5. Test the new PIN code.

5.5 User and Guest Management

The SMARTSOLITY app allows for comprehensive management of all users and access permissions.

  • Add/Delete Users: Easily grant or revoke access for individuals.
  • Scheduled Access: Create temporary or time-limited codes for guests, cleaners, or service personnel.
  • Access Logs: Monitor who entered and when, providing a detailed history of lock activity.

6. Operation

6.1 Unlocking the Door

  • Fingerprint: Place a registered finger on the fingerprint sensor. The lock will unlock if the fingerprint is recognized.
  • PIN Code: Touch the keypad to activate it, enter your PIN code (optionally with random digits before/after), and press '#'.
  • SMARTSOLITY App: Open the app, select your lock, and tap the unlock icon.
  • Mechanical Key: Insert the physical key into the keyhole and turn to unlock.
  • Voice Command (Alexa/SmartThings): Use a compatible smart assistant (e.g., "Alexa, unlock the front door." - may require a voice PIN for security).

6.2 Locking the Door

  • Manual Lock: From the interior, turn the thumb-turn to lock the deadbolt.
  • Auto-Lock: The lock is set by default to automatically lock a few seconds after the door is closed. This setting can be adjusted or disabled via the SMARTSOLITY app.
  • Keypad Lock: Touch the keypad to activate it, then press and hold the '#' key for a few seconds.
  • SMARTSOLITY App: Open the app, select your lock, and tap the lock icon.
  • Voice Command (Alexa/SmartThings): Use a compatible smart assistant (e.g., "Alexa, lock the front door.").

6.3 Adjusting Volume

The volume of the lock's beeps and voice prompts can be adjusted or muted through the SMARTSOLITY app settings or the lock's programming menu.

7. Maintenance

7.1 Battery Replacement

The GT5BK Smart Lock operates on 4 AA alkaline batteries. Expected battery life is up to 8 months with typical usage.

  • Low Battery Alert: The lock will provide an audible and visual alert when batteries are low. The SMARTSOLITY app will also display an in-app battery indicator and send notifications.
  • Replacement: To replace batteries, remove the cover on the interior assembly, remove the old batteries, and insert new 4 AA alkaline batteries, ensuring correct polarity.

Caution: Do not mix old and new batteries. Do not mix alkaline, standard (carbon-zinc), or rechargeable (nickel-cadmium) batteries. Replace all four batteries at the same time.

7.2 Cleaning

Clean the lock's exterior with a soft, damp cloth. Avoid abrasive cleaners or solvents that could damage the finish or electronic components. The matte surface is designed to resist fingerprint smudges.
