5. Setup and Installation
Follow these steps to install your Antec GSK 850W Power Supply:
- Prepare Your System: Ensure your computer is completely powered off and unplugged from the wall outlet. Open your computer case.
- Remove Old PSU (if applicable): Disconnect all cables from your old power supply and remove it from the case.
- Mount the New PSU: Carefully slide the Antec GSK 850W PSU into the power supply bay of your computer case. Secure it with the provided mounting screws. Ensure the fan is facing the correct direction for optimal airflow (typically facing down if your case has a bottom vent, or up if it's a top-mounted PSU).
- Connect Modular Cables:
- Connect the necessary modular cables to the PSU first. Refer to the "Connections" list in the Features section.
- Connect the 24-pin ATX motherboard cable to your motherboard.
- Connect the 8-pin (4+4) CPU power cable(s) to your motherboard.
- Connect the PCIe 5.1 12V-2x6 cable to your compatible graphics card, or the 8-pin (6+2) PCIe cables to your graphics card(s) as required.
- Connect SATA power cables to your storage drives (HDDs, SSDs) and Molex cables to any other peripherals that require them.
- Cable Management: Route cables neatly to improve airflow and aesthetics.
- Close Case and Connect Power: Close your computer case. Connect the AC power cord to the PSU and then to a wall outlet or surge protector.

This image shows the rear panel of the Antec GSK 850W power supply, featuring the AC power input, the main power switch, and a "Hybrid Mode" button. The Hybrid Mode button controls the Zero RPM fan function.
6. Operating Instructions
After installation, ensure the main power switch on the rear of the PSU is in the "ON" (I) position. You can then power on your computer as usual.
6.1. Zero RPM Manager (Hybrid Mode)
The Antec GSK 850W features a Zero RPM Manager, also known as Hybrid Mode. This function allows the PSU fan to remain off under low to moderate loads, providing silent operation.
- To enable Hybrid Mode (fan off at low loads), press the "HYBRID MODE" button on the rear of the PSU. The fan will only spin up when the internal temperature or load reaches a certain threshold.
- To disable Hybrid Mode (fan always on), press the "HYBRID MODE" button again. The fan will operate continuously, adjusting its speed based on load and temperature.
