3. Setup
3.1 Unpacking
The package includes one (1) Digital Nc Rechargeable Li-ion Battery. Inspect the battery for any visible damage upon unpacking.
3.2 Initial Charging
Before first use, fully charge the battery. The battery can be charged using the Leica BC-SCL6 charger or in-camera via USB-C. If using a Leica Q3 with the HG-DC1 handgrip, wireless charging is also supported.
- Using an External Charger (Leica BC-SCL6): Insert the battery into the BC-SCL6 charger according to the charger's instructions. Connect the charger to a power source. The charging indicator on the charger will show the charging status.
- In-Camera Charging (USB-C): Insert the battery into your compatible Leica camera (Q3, Q2, SL2, SL2-S, SL3, SL3-S). Connect a USB-C cable to the camera's USB-C port and to a power source. The camera's display or indicator light will show the charging status.
- Wireless Charging (Leica Q3 with HG-DC1): If you have a Leica Q3 camera equipped with the HG-DC1 handgrip, insert the battery into the camera. Place the camera on a compatible wireless charging pad. The camera's display will indicate charging status.
A full charge typically takes several hours. Refer to your camera or charger manual for specific charging times.
4. Operating Instructions
4.1 Battery Installation
To install the battery, ensure your camera is powered off. Open the battery compartment cover on your Leica Q or SL-series camera. Align the battery with the compartment, matching the contacts, and gently push it in until it clicks into place. Close the battery compartment cover securely.
4.2 Powering On/Off
Once the battery is installed, power on your camera using its designated power switch. To power off, use the camera's power switch. Always power off the camera before removing the battery.
4.3 Battery Life and Performance

5. Maintenance
5.1 Cleaning
Wipe the battery and its contacts with a clean, dry cloth. Do not use liquid cleaners or solvents. Ensure contacts are free of dust and debris for optimal connection.
5.2 Storage
For long-term storage, charge the battery to approximately 50-60% capacity. Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. Avoid storing fully charged or completely depleted batteries for extended periods, as this can reduce battery lifespan.
5.3 Battery Cycle Life
Lithium-ion batteries have a finite number of charge cycles. To maximize the battery's lifespan, avoid frequent full discharges and charges. Partial discharges and charges are generally better for Li-ion batteries.
6. Troubleshooting
- Battery not charging:
- Ensure the battery is correctly inserted into the charger or camera.
- Verify the charger or USB-C cable is properly connected to a power source.
- Check if the power outlet is functional.
- Clean the battery contacts and charger/camera contacts with a dry cloth.
- Camera not powering on with battery:
- Ensure the battery is fully charged.
- Verify the battery is correctly inserted into the camera compartment.
- Check if the battery compartment door is securely closed.
- If possible, test with another known-good battery to rule out camera issues.
- Shortened battery life:
- Battery performance naturally degrades over time and with use.
- Ensure the battery is fully charged before use.
- Review camera settings that consume more power (e.g., screen brightness, Wi-Fi, continuous shooting).
- Extreme temperatures can affect battery performance.
