1. Introduction

Thank you for choosing the CUSIMAX Espresso Machine with Grinder. This professional coffee machine is designed to bring barista-quality espresso, cappuccino, and latte beverages directly to your home. Featuring a built-in conical grinder, 20-bar high-pressure extraction, and a powerful steam wand, this machine offers customizable settings for a perfect cup every time. Please read this manual thoroughly before operation to ensure safe and optimal use of your appliance.

2. Safety Information

Always follow basic safety precautions when using electrical appliances to reduce the risk of fire, electric shock, and/or injury to persons, including the following:

  • Read all instructions carefully before operating the appliance.
  • Do not touch hot surfaces. Use handles or knobs.
  • To protect against fire, electric shock, and personal injury, do not immerse cord, plugs, or the appliance in water or other liquid.

3. Product Components

  • Espresso Machine: The main unit with integrated grinder and control panel.

4. Setup and First Use

  1. Unpacking: Carefully remove all packaging materials and ensure all components listed in Section 3 are present.
  2. Placement: Place the machine on a stable, flat, heat-resistant surface, away from walls and heat sources. Ensure adequate ventilation.
  3. Water Tank Installation: Remove the 60oz (1.8L) removable water tank from the back of the machine. Fill it with fresh, cold water up to the MAX line. Reinsert the water tank firmly into its position.

  4. Bean Hopper: Open the bean hopper cover and fill with fresh whole coffee beans. Replace the cover.
  5. Power Connection: Plug the power cord into a grounded electrical outlet.
  6. Initial Rinse/Priming: Before first use, it is recommended to run a few cycles with just water to clean the internal components.
    • Turn on the machine by pressing the ON/OFF button.
    • Wait for the machine to preheat (Espresso Heating indicator will be solid).
    • Place a large cup under the portafilter spout (without coffee grounds).
    • Press the Espresso button to run a cycle of hot water. Repeat 2-3 times.
    • Turn the steam knob to the steam position and let hot water/steam dispense for a few seconds to prime the steam wand.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1. Grinding Coffee Beans

The CUSIMAX Espresso Machine features a built-in precision conical grinder with 20 preset grinding settings, allowing you to adjust the coarseness of the coffee powder for optimal flavor extraction.

  1. Ensure coffee beans are in the hopper.
  2. Select your desired grind setting using the grind size adjustment lever (from Coarse to Fine).
  3. Place the portafilter with the appropriate filter basket (single or double) under the grinder outlet.
  4. Press the Grind button on the control panel. The grinder will dispense a custom amount of coffee. Click once to start grinding and click again to stop grinding.
  5. Use the included dosing ring to keep your counter tidy and prevent grounds from scattering.

5.2. Making Espresso

Achieve rich, flavorful espresso with the 20-bar pressure extraction system.

  1. After grinding, ensure the coffee grounds are evenly distributed in the portafilter basket. Use the tamper to press the grounds firmly and evenly.
  2. Wipe any excess grounds from the rim of the portafilter.
  3. Insert the portafilter into the group head and twist it firmly to lock it into place.
  4. Place your espresso cup(s) on the drip tray directly under the portafilter spouts.
  5. Ensure the machine is preheated (Espresso Heating indicator is solid). The machine preheats in 30-40 seconds.
  6. On the easy touch display, select either the 1-shot or 2-shot espresso button. The machine will begin brewing.
  7. Once brewing is complete, the machine will stop automatically. Carefully remove the portafilter and discard the used coffee grounds.

5.3. Milk Frothing (Steam Wand)

Create creamy milk foam for cappuccinos and lattes using the powerful steam wand.

  1. Fill a stainless steel milk frothing pitcher with cold milk (dairy or non-dairy) to just below the spout.
  2. Press the Steam button on the control panel. Wait for the steam indicator to become solid, indicating it's ready.
  3. Position the steam wand just below the surface of the milk. Turn the steam knob to release steam.
  4. Lower the pitcher slightly to introduce air for foam, then submerge the wand deeper to heat the milk. Continue until desired temperature and foam consistency are achieved.
  5. Turn the steam knob off and remove the pitcher. Wipe the steam wand immediately with a damp cloth to prevent milk residue from drying.

5.4. Hot Water Function

The steam wand can also dispense hot water for Americanos, tea, or preheating cups.

  1. Place a cup under the steam wand.
  2. Turn the steam knob to the hot water position. Hot water will dispense.
  3. Turn the knob back to the off position when done.

5.5. Cold Brew / Iced Coffee

Enjoy refreshing iced coffee with your machine.

  1. Add the right amount of water and ice to the water tank.
  2. Prepare your espresso as described in Section 5.2.
  3. Press the Espresso cool button on the control panel.
  4. Brew your espresso directly over ice in a glass.

6. Maintenance and Cleaning

Regular cleaning ensures the longevity and optimal performance of your espresso machine.

  • Drip Tray: The removable drip tray should be emptied and cleaned daily or when the red indicator pops up. Wash with warm, soapy water and rinse thoroughly.

  • Water Tank: The 60oz removable water tank should be rinsed regularly and refilled with fresh water. Avoid leaving stagnant water in the tank.
  • Steam Wand: After each use, immediately wipe the steam wand with a damp cloth to remove any milk residue. Periodically, remove the nozzle and rinse it under running water to clear any blockages.
  • Portafilter and Filter Baskets: After each use, remove the portafilter, discard coffee grounds, and rinse the portafilter and filter basket under hot water. For a deeper clean, use a small brush to remove any stuck-on coffee.
  • Grinder Cleaning: Periodically, run the grinder empty to clear any residual grounds. Refer to the troubleshooting section for more detailed grinder maintenance.
  • Exterior: Wipe the exterior of the machine with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or scourers.
