Comboss Solar Motion Sensor Alarm User Manual

Model: COM-911BW

Introduction

This manual provides instructions for the installation, operation, and maintenance of your Comboss Solar Motion Sensor Alarm. This device is designed to provide an effective, eco-friendly security solution for deterring unwanted animal intrusions and enhancing property security.

Product Overview

The Comboss Solar Motion Sensor Alarm is a wireless, weatherproof, and energy-efficient security device. It utilizes a Passive Infrared (PIR) motion sensor to detect movement, triggering a loud siren and a bright strobe LED light to deter animals and potential intruders. Its solar-powered design ensures continuous operation with minimal maintenance.

Package Contents

The Comboss Solar Motion Sensor Alarm package typically includes:

  • Solar Motion Sensor Alarm Unit(s)
  • Remote Control(s) (one per alarm unit in multi-packs)
  • USB Charging Cable
  • Mounting Hardware (screws, wall anchors)
  • User Manual (this document)

Setup and Installation

Initial Charge

Before first use, it is recommended to fully charge the alarm unit.

  1. Place the solar panel in direct sunlight for 4-6 hours.
  2. Alternatively, connect the unit to a USB power source using the provided USB cable. The charging indicator light will illuminate during charging and turn off when fully charged.
Two charging methods for the alarm: solar charging and DC charging via USB cable

Mounting Location

Select a location that receives ample direct sunlight throughout the day for optimal solar charging. Ensure the motion sensor has an unobstructed view of the area you wish to monitor.

  • Suitable locations include posts, fences, trees, or walls.
  • Mount the unit at an adjustable height between 1 to 8 feet (approximately 0.3 to 2.4 meters) for optimal detection results.

Mounting Steps

  1. Mark the desired mounting points on the surface using the unit's mounting holes as a template.
  2. Drill pilot holes if necessary and insert wall anchors (if mounting on masonry or drywall).
  3. Secure the alarm unit to the surface using the provided screws.

Operating Modes

The Comboss Solar Motion Sensor Alarm offers four distinct working modes, selectable via the remote control. The remote control typically has buttons labeled A, B, C, D corresponding to the modes.

Four panels illustrating the different operating modes of the alarm with various animals

Image: Four panels demonstrating the alarm's operating modes. Mode A shows a coyote near an alarm, indicating 24H induction with sound and flash. Mode B shows a deer, indicating 24H induction with flash only. Mode C shows a fox, indicating night induction with sound and flash. Mode D shows a rabbit, indicating night induction with flash only. A remote control is also pictured.

Mode A: 24H Induction (Sound & Flash)
The alarm will detect motion 24 hours a day. Upon detection, it will activate both the loud siren (cycling through 13 different alarm sounds) and the strobe LED light. This mode is suitable for continuous, high-alert security.
Mode B: 24H Induction (Flash Only)
The alarm will detect motion 24 hours a day. Upon detection, only the strobe LED light will activate, without any sound. This mode is ideal for areas where audible alarms might cause disturbance but visual deterrence is still desired.
Mode C: Night Induction (Sound & Flash)
The alarm will detect motion only during nighttime hours. Upon detection, it will activate both the loud siren (cycling through 13 different alarm sounds) and the strobe LED light. This mode is effective for nocturnal animal deterrence.
Mode D: Night Induction (Flash Only)
The alarm will detect motion only during nighttime hours. Upon detection, only the strobe LED light will activate, without any sound. This mode provides silent visual deterrence during the night.

Alarm Sounds

The alarm is equipped with 13 different sounds to prevent animals from becoming accustomed to a single sound. These include: Barking dog & gunshot, Wolf howl, Gong sound, Eagle calls, Firecrackers, Lion roar, Pig screaming, Explosion, Di sound, Car speaker, Alarm, Bell, Siren.

Motion Detection

The PIR motion sensor has a sensing angle of 125° and a detection range of 5-8 meters. When a moving object is sensed within this area, the alarm will automatically trigger based on the selected operating mode.

Maintenance

The Comboss Solar Motion Sensor Alarm is designed for low maintenance.

  • Cleaning: Periodically wipe the solar panel and motion sensor lens with a soft, damp cloth to ensure optimal performance. Avoid abrasive cleaners.
  • Battery: The internal lithium polymer battery is designed for long-term use and is charged by the solar panel. No user-replaceable batteries are required under normal operation.
  • Placement: Ensure the solar panel remains free from obstructions (e.g., leaves, snow) to allow for efficient charging.

Troubleshooting

ProblemPossible CauseSolution
Alarm not activatingInsufficient charge; Sensor obstructed; Incorrect mode selected; Remote control battery low.Ensure unit is fully charged (solar or USB). Clear any obstructions from sensor. Verify correct operating mode is selected with remote. Replace remote control battery if applicable.
Alarm too sensitive/false alarmsUnit placed too close to moving objects (e.g., swaying branches, busy pathways); Strong winds.Adjust mounting height or relocate the unit to an area with less environmental interference. Consider using flash-only modes (Mode B or D) if sound is too disruptive.
Alarm not chargingInsufficient direct sunlight; Solar panel dirty or obstructed.Relocate unit to an area with more direct sunlight. Clean the solar panel surface. Try USB charging to confirm unit functionality.
Remote control not workingBattery depleted; Out of range.Replace the remote control battery. Ensure you are within effective range of the alarm unit.
