4. Setup

4.1 Unpacking

Carefully unpack the mixing console and check for any signs of damage. Ensure all components listed in the packing list are present:

  • 1 x Mixing Console (MIX-400)
  • 1 x Power Adapter
  • 1 x User Manual (this document)

4.2 Power Connection

  1. Ensure the mixer's power switch is in the OFF position.
  2. Connect the provided DC5V power adapter to the mixer's power input jack.
  3. Plug the power adapter into a suitable electrical outlet.
  4. Alternatively, the mixer can be powered via a DC5V USB power supply.

4.3 Audio Input Connections

  • MIC/LINE Inputs (Channels 1-4): Connect microphones or line-level instruments to the XLR/TRS combo jacks. For condenser microphones requiring phantom power, ensure the +48V phantom power switch is engaged (refer to Section 5.2).
  • Stereo Inputs (Channels 5/6): Connect stereo line-level sources (e.g., keyboards, media players) to the RCA input jacks.
  • USB MP3 Input: Insert a USB drive containing MP3 audio files into the USB port for playback.

4.4 Audio Output Connections

Connect the main output of the mixer to your amplifier, powered speakers, or recording device using appropriate cables.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1 Basic Operation Sequence

  1. Connect all input and output devices as described in Section 4.
  2. Turn on the mixer's power switch.
  3. Set all GAIN, LEVEL, and MAIN fader controls to their minimum positions.
  4. Gradually increase the GAIN control for each active input channel until the PEAK indicator flashes only occasionally.
  5. Adjust the HIGH, MIDDLE, and LOW EQ controls to shape the tone of each channel.
  6. Use the PAN control to position the sound of each mono channel within the stereo field.
  7. Slowly raise the channel LEVEL faders to achieve a balanced mix.
  8. Adjust the MAIN fader to control the overall output volume.
  9. Monitor the REC/MAIN level meters to avoid clipping.

5.2 Channel Controls

  • GAIN: Adjusts the input sensitivity for each channel. Use to match the input signal level.
  • PEAK LED: Illuminates when the input signal is too high, indicating potential clipping. Reduce GAIN if this LED lights up frequently.
  • HIGH/MID/LOW EQ: 3-band equalizer for adjusting the treble, midrange, and bass frequencies of each channel.
  • AUX/EFF: Controls the amount of signal sent from the channel to the auxiliary/effects send.
  • PAN: (Mono channels) Adjusts the stereo position of the channel signal (left to right).
  • LEVEL: Controls the output volume of the individual channel to the main mix.
  • +48V PHANTOM POWER: Activates +48V phantom power for condenser microphones connected to XLR inputs. Ensure microphones are compatible before engaging.

5.3 Effects Section (Reverb & Delay)

The mixer includes built-in Reverb and Delay effects. Use the AUX/EFF knobs on individual channels to send signal to the effects processor. The DLY (Delay) and REP (Repeat) knobs in the master section control the characteristics of the delay effect.

5.4 USB MP3 Playback

  1. Insert a USB flash drive containing MP3 files into the USB port.
  2. The LCD screen will display playback information.
  3. Use the MODE, Play/Pause, Previous, and Next buttons to control playback.
  4. Adjust the TAPE/MP3 LEVEL knob to control the volume of the USB playback.

5.5 Bluetooth (BT) Connectivity

  1. Press the MODE button on the USB/BT section until "BLUE" appears on the LCD screen, indicating Bluetooth mode.
  2. On your smartphone or Bluetooth device, search for available devices and select "MIX-400".
  3. Once paired, audio from your device will play through the mixer.
  4. Adjust the TAPE/MP3 LEVEL knob to control the Bluetooth audio volume.

6. Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the mixer's surface. Do not use liquid cleaners or solvents.
  • Storage: Store the mixer in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
  • Ventilation: Ensure proper ventilation around the unit to prevent overheating. Do not block ventilation openings.
  • Power Off: Always turn off the mixer and disconnect the power adapter when not in use for extended periods.

7. Troubleshooting

  • Power not connected or turned on.

  • Verify microphone/instrument functionality.
  • Engage +48V phantom power if needed.
Distorted sound
  • GAIN or LEVEL controls set too high (PEAK LED constantly on).
  • Output level too high for connected device.
  • Reduce GAIN or channel LEVEL controls.
  • Lower MAIN fader or input sensitivity on connected amplifier/speakers.
Bluetooth not connecting
  • Mixer not in Bluetooth mode.
  • Device too far from mixer.
  • Interference.
  • Ensure "BLUE" is displayed on LCD.
  • Move device closer to mixer.
  • Restart both devices.
