Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Keep the device clean and free from dust. Use a soft, dry cloth to wipe the display and casing. Avoid using liquid cleaners directly on the device.
  • Ventilation: Ensure the device is placed in a well-ventilated area to prevent overheating, although its low power consumption minimizes heat generation.
  • Firmware Updates: Periodically check the official OEMGMINER website or community forums for any available firmware updates to ensure optimal performance and access to new features.
  • Power Source: Use a stable USB-A power source to prevent unexpected shutdowns or damage to the device.

Troubleshooting

  • Device Not Powering On:
    • Ensure the USB-A cable is securely connected to both the device and the power source.
    • Try a different USB-A port or power adapter to rule out a faulty power source.
  • No WiFi Connection:
    • Re-enter your WiFi credentials through the configuration steps outlined in the "Initial Configuration" section.
    • Ensure your WiFi network is 2.4GHz, as the device may not support 5GHz networks.
    • Verify that the WiFi password is correct.
    • Move the device closer to your WiFi router to improve signal strength.
  • Display Not Updating or Freezing:
    • Perform a soft reset by unplugging and re-plugging the device.
    • If the issue persists, try a factory reset using the reset button (refer to assembly video for button location) and reconfigure the device.
  • Low Hash Rate:
    • The NerdMiner V2 is designed for low-power solo mining, and its hash rate is inherently low compared to industrial miners. This is expected behavior.
    • Ensure a stable internet connection for consistent mining activity.

Important Notes on Solo Mining

The NerdMiner V2 is a Bitcoin solo lottery miner. This means it attempts to find a new Bitcoin block on its own. If successful, the reward is significant (currently 3.125 BTC per block). However, due to the extremely high difficulty of the Bitcoin network, the probability of a single low-power device like the NerdMiner V2 successfully mining a block is exceptionally low. It is designed more as an educational tool, a conversation piece, and a fun, low-risk way to engage with Bitcoin mining, rather than a reliable source of income.

Users should understand that winning a block is akin to winning a lottery. While the device operates with very low power consumption (3W), making it energy-efficient, the primary purpose is for learning and hobbyist engagement with the mining process.
