1. Introduction
This manual provides detailed instructions for the safe and efficient use of your OSRAM Wall Sensor with 180° Motion and Light Detection. Please read this manual thoroughly before installation and operation, and retain it for future reference.
The OSRAM sensor is designed for wall mounting and features independent light and motion detection. It offers three selectable operating modes and an optimized zero-crossing circuit for LED luminaires, ensuring energy efficiency and reliable performance in various outdoor and indoor environments.
2. Safety Information
WARNING: Risk of Electric Shock!
- All electrical connections must be performed by a qualified electrician.
- Ensure the power supply is disconnected before installation, maintenance, or troubleshooting.
- Verify compatibility between the mounting surface (wall or ceiling) and the sensor. If unsure, consult a professional.
- Do not attempt to modify or repair the device yourself. Refer all servicing to qualified personnel.
3. Package Contents
Please check that all components are present and undamaged:
- 1 x OSRAM WALL 180DEG IP55 WT Sensor
- Instruction Manual (this document)
4. Setup and Installation
The OSRAM Wall Sensor is designed for wall or flush ceiling mounting. Its 180° detection range allows for flexible placement, including directly next to doors.
4.1 Choosing a Mounting Location
- Outdoor Use: The sensor has an IP55 rating, making it suitable for outdoor environments.
- Recommended Areas: Corridors, entrance areas, garages, storage rooms, commercial centers.
- Detection Range: The 180° detection range is optimal for areas where motion needs to be detected across a wide angle, such as adjacent to doorways.
- Avoid: Direct sunlight, heat sources, or areas with strong air currents that might cause false triggers.
4.2 Electrical Connection (Professional Installation Required)
- Disconnect Power: Ensure the main power supply to the installation area is switched off at the circuit breaker before beginning any electrical work.
- Mounting: Securely mount the sensor to the chosen wall or ceiling location using appropriate fasteners (not included). Ensure the mounting surface is stable and can support the device.
- Wiring: Connect the sensor to the electrical circuit according to local wiring regulations and the provided wiring diagram (if applicable, typically found on the device or packaging). The sensor operates at 220 Volts.
- LED Compatibility: The sensor features an optimized zero-crossing circuit for efficient operation with LED luminaires.
- Final Check: After wiring, ensure all connections are secure and insulated.
- Restore Power: Once installation is complete and verified by a qualified electrician, restore power to the circuit.

5. Operating Instructions
The OSRAM Wall Sensor offers three selectable operating modes to suit various application needs.
5.1 Operating Modes
The sensor can be configured for the following modes:
- Continuous Light (6 hours): In this mode, the connected luminaire will remain on for a continuous period of 6 hours, regardless of motion or ambient light conditions. This is typically used for temporary constant illumination.
- Motion Detection: The luminaire will activate when motion is detected within the 180° detection range. It will remain on for a set duration (adjustable, refer to device settings if available) and turn off when no motion is detected for that period.
- Dusk-to-Dawn (Twilight) Activation: The luminaire will activate when the ambient light level falls below a certain threshold (dusk) and will remain active until the light level rises above that threshold (dawn), or for a set duration after activation. Motion detection may also be integrated into this mode, activating the light only when it's dark AND motion is detected.
Note: Specific adjustment methods for sensitivity, time delay, and light threshold are typically found on the device itself (e.g., via potentiometers or dip switches) or in a separate quick-start guide. Please consult the physical device for these controls.
6. Maintenance
The OSRAM Wall Sensor is designed for low maintenance. Regular cleaning and inspection will ensure optimal performance.
- Cleaning: Periodically wipe the sensor lens and housing with a soft, damp cloth to remove dust, dirt, or debris. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
- Inspection: Annually inspect the sensor for any signs of physical damage, loose connections, or wear. Ensure the mounting remains secure.
- Power Disconnection: Always disconnect power to the sensor before performing any cleaning or inspection that requires direct contact with the unit.
7. Troubleshooting
If you experience issues with your OSRAM Wall Sensor, refer to the following common problems and solutions:
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Light does not turn on with motion. |
|
|
| Light stays on continuously. |
|
|
| Light turns on/off erratically. |
|
|
If the problem persists after attempting these solutions, please contact OSRAM customer support or a qualified electrician.
