5. Setup
5.1 Battery Installation
- Open the battery compartment cover on the back of the device.
- Insert two 1.5V AAA alkaline batteries, ensuring correct polarity (+/-).
- Close the battery compartment cover securely.
5.2 Power On/Off
- To power on the device, press the READ button.
- To power off the device, press and hold the OFF/CLEAR button for a few seconds. The device will also automatically power off after 150 seconds of inactivity.
6. Operating Instructions
6.1 Basic Measurement (Single Distance)
- Point the laser at the target.
- Press the READ button once. The measured distance will be displayed on the screen.
6.2 Continuous Measurement (Min/Max)
- Press and hold the READ button to enter continuous measurement mode.
- Move the device slowly. The maximum and minimum distances, along with the current distance, will be displayed.
- Press the READ button again to exit continuous measurement.
6.3 Area Measurement
- Press the Function button (square icon) until the area measurement icon appears on the screen.
- Press READ to measure the first side (length).
- Press READ again to measure the second side (width).
- The device will automatically calculate and display the area.
6.4 Volume Measurement
- Press the Function button (square icon) until the volume measurement icon appears on the screen.
- Press READ to measure the length.
- Press READ to measure the width.
- Press READ to measure the height.
- The device will automatically calculate and display the volume.
6.5 Pythagorean Measurement
The device supports 2-point and 3-point Pythagorean measurements for indirect height or distance calculations.
- Press the Function button (square icon) until the desired Pythagorean icon appears.
- Follow the on-screen prompts to take the required measurements (e.g., hypotenuse, base).
- The device will automatically calculate and display the unknown side.

6.6 Addition/Subtraction
To add or subtract measurements:
- Take a measurement.
- Press the +/- button to select addition or subtraction.
- Take the next measurement. The result will be displayed.
6.7 Unit Selection
Press the UNIT button to cycle through measurement units: meters (m), feet (ft), and inches (in).
6.8 Reference Point Adjustment
Press the Reference button (bottom left icon) to switch the measurement reference point between the front edge and the rear edge of the device.
6.9 Memory Function
The device can store up to 99 measurement records. Press the Memory button (book icon) to view stored data. Use the up/down arrow buttons to navigate through records.
6.10 Auto-Calibration
If you suspect the device's accuracy is off, you can perform an auto-calibration:
- With the device off, press and hold the OFF/CLEAR button and then press the READ button simultaneously until 'CAL' appears on the screen.
