Instruction Manual - Model B0598T4H4

1. Introduction

This manual provides detailed instructions for the setup, operation, and maintenance of your BaldrTherm Solar Photosensitive Three Channel Thermo-Hygrometer. This device is designed to monitor temperature and humidity in up to four locations simultaneously: one indoor main unit and three remote outdoor sensors. It features a solar-powered photosensitive backlight and real-time alerts for environmental changes.

2. Product Components

The BaldrTherm Thermo-Hygrometer system includes the following components:

  • Main Display Unit: For indoor use, displays readings from all sensors and its own indoor environment.
  • Three Remote Sensors: For outdoor or additional indoor locations, transmitting data wirelessly to the main unit.
  • Instruction Manual: This document.

  • ALERT 1, 2, 3 Buttons: Used to set and activate/deactivate temperature/humidity alerts for corresponding channels.
  • CH (Channel) Button: Switches between displaying individual channels or cycles through them. Also used for pairing mode.
  • MAX/MIN Button: Displays maximum and minimum recorded temperature and humidity values.
  • °C/°F Button: Toggles between Celsius and Fahrenheit temperature units.
  • AUTO Button: Controls the automatic backlight function.

3. Setup

3.1 Battery Installation

Batteries are not included. Please prepare 3 AA batteries for the main unit and 2 AA batteries for each remote sensor.

  1. Main Unit: Open the battery compartment on the back of the main unit. Insert 3 AA batteries, ensuring correct polarity (+/-). Close the compartment. The unit will automatically enter pairing mode for 7 minutes, and the signal icon will flash slowly.
  2. Remote Sensors: Open the battery compartment on the back of each remote sensor. Insert 2 AA batteries into each sensor, observing correct polarity. Close the compartment.

3.2 Pairing Remote Sensors

The remote sensors will automatically pair with the main unit once their batteries are installed, provided the main unit is in pairing mode (which it enters automatically upon battery insertion). Ensure all sensors are within range of the main unit during initial setup.

  • If a sensor does not pair, press and hold the "CH" button on the main unit for 3 seconds to re-enter pairing mode. Then, press the "TX" button inside the battery compartment of the specific remote sensor to force a signal transmission.
  • Each remote sensor has a small switch inside its battery compartment to select Channel 1, 2, or 3. Ensure each sensor is set to a unique channel before pairing.

4. Operating Instructions

4.1 Display Information

The main unit's display shows temperature and humidity for the indoor environment (main unit) and up to three remote channels. Each channel's reading is clearly labeled.

4.2 Switching Temperature Units (°C/°F)

Press the °C/°F button on the side of the main unit to toggle between Celsius and Fahrenheit temperature displays.

4.3 Viewing MAX/MIN Readings

Press the MAX/MIN button to cycle through the maximum and minimum temperature and humidity readings recorded since the last reset. Press again to return to current readings.

4.4 Setting Alerts for Temperature & Humidity

The device can provide instant alerts if temperature or humidity exceeds preset ranges for channels 1, 2, and 3.

  • Press the corresponding ALERT 1, ALERT 2, or ALERT 3 button to enter alert setting mode for that channel.
  • Use the CH and MAX/MIN buttons to adjust the high and low alert thresholds for temperature and humidity.
  • Press the ALERT button again to confirm and activate the alert. The alert icon will appear on the display.
  • When an alert condition is met, the screen will flash, and an audible alarm may sound (if enabled).

4.5 Automatic Smart Backlight

The main unit features a photosensitive panel that automatically adjusts the backlight intensity based on ambient light conditions.

  • Press the AUTO button on the side of the main unit to toggle the automatic backlight function on or off.
  • When enabled, the display will be brighter in well-lit environments and dimmer in low-light conditions for improved readability and energy efficiency.

5. Sensor Placement and Transmission

The remote sensors are designed for both indoor and outdoor use. For optimal performance and range, consider the following:

  • Range: The system offers a wireless transmission range of up to 330 feet (100 meters) in open air. Walls, metal structures, and other electronic devices may reduce this range.
  • Outdoor Placement: Place outdoor sensors in a shaded, dry location, protected from direct sunlight and heavy precipitation to ensure accurate readings and prolong battery life. Avoid placing them directly on metal surfaces.
  • Indoor Placement: Place indoor sensors in areas where you wish to monitor specific conditions, such as living rooms, bedrooms, or storage areas.
  • Line of Sight: While not strictly required, a clear line of sight between the main unit and sensors can improve signal strength and reliability.

6. Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Wipe the main unit and sensors with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
  • Battery Replacement: Replace batteries in the main unit and sensors when the low battery indicator appears on the display. Ensure to replace all batteries in a unit at the same time for consistent performance.
  • Environmental Protection: While remote sensors are weather-resistant, extreme conditions (e.g., prolonged heavy rain, direct intense sunlight, freezing temperatures below specified operating range) can affect performance and lifespan. Position sensors in sheltered locations when possible.

7. Troubleshooting

ProblemPossible CauseSolution
No readings from remote sensor(s)
  • Batteries are dead or incorrectly installed.
  • Sensor is out of range.
  • Interference from other electronic devices.
  • Sensor not properly paired.
  • Check and replace batteries, ensuring correct polarity.
  • Move sensor closer to the main unit.
  • Relocate the main unit or sensor away from sources of interference.
  • Re-pair the sensor (see Section 3.2).
Inaccurate readings
  • Sensor exposed to direct sunlight or moisture.
  • Sensor placed near heat sources or vents.
  • Relocate sensor to a shaded, dry area.
  • Ensure sensor is in a representative environment.
Display is dim or not working
  • Main unit batteries are low or dead.
  • Automatic backlight is off or in a very dark environment.
  • Replace main unit batteries.
  • Press the AUTO button to check backlight settings or move to a brighter area.
Max/Min readings not updating correctlyInternal software issue or temporary glitch.Perform a full reset: Remove all batteries from the main unit and sensors. Press any button on the main unit for 20 seconds to drain residual power. Wait 15 minutes. Reinstall batteries in sensors first, then the main unit.
