2. Safety Information

Your safety and the safety of others are paramount. Please observe all safety warnings and instructions.

General Safety

  • Ensure the appliance is properly installed by a qualified electrician in accordance with local regulations.
  • Do not operate the hob if the glass surface is cracked or damaged. Contact customer service immediately.
  • Keep children away from the appliance during operation and when it is cooling down.
  • Do not store flammable materials on or near the hob.
  • Always unplug the appliance from the power supply before cleaning or maintenance.

Induction-Specific Safety

  • Use only cookware suitable for induction hobs. These typically have a magnetic base.
  • The hob surface itself does not heat up directly, but residual heat from hot cookware can make it hot. A hot surface indicator will illuminate when a zone is hot.
  • Do not place metallic objects (e.g., knives, forks, spoons, lids) on the hob surface as they can become hot.
  • Avoid placing credit cards, pacemakers, or other magnetic-sensitive devices near the hob during operation.

Safety Features

  • Automatic Shut-off: The hob will automatically turn off if left unattended for an extended period or if cookware is removed.
  • Child Safety Lock: Prevents accidental operation of the hob.
  • Pan Sensor: Detects the presence of suitable cookware and will not activate a zone without it.

3. What's in the Box

Upon unpacking, please ensure all items are present and undamaged:

  • Gudsunal 2-Ring Induction Hob
  • Installation Kits (clips)
  • Cut-out Size Board (template)
  • Sealing Tape
  • User Manual
  • 4 Rubber Feet (Note: While listed, some units may not include these. This hob is primarily designed for built-in installation.)

4. Setup and Installation

This induction hob is primarily designed for built-in installation into a kitchen countertop. It can also be used as a portable countertop unit, but requires additional considerations.

Built-in Installation

  1. Prepare the Countertop: Use the provided cut-out size board as a template to accurately cut the opening in your countertop. The recommended cut-out size is approximately 27 cm x 49 cm.
  2. Ensure Ventilation: Adequate airflow beneath the hob is crucial for proper operation and to prevent overheating. Ensure there is sufficient space for the central fan to operate.
  3. Apply Sealing Tape: Apply the provided sealing tape around the edges of the hob's underside to create a secure and cushioned fit, and to prevent liquids from seeping into the cabinet.
  4. Secure the Hob: Place the hob into the cut-out. Use the supplied installation clips to secure the hob firmly to the countertop from underneath.
  5. Electrical Connection: The hob comes with a standard 13A plug. Ensure your electrical outlet is suitable and properly grounded. For permanent wiring or if you have any doubts, consult a qualified electrician. Electrical work in kitchens should always be performed by a competent professional.

Countertop Use (Portable)

If using on a countertop without built-in installation, please note the following:

  • Rubber Feet: The hob requires elevation for proper airflow. If rubber feet are not included, you will need to acquire suitable feet with short screws to prevent damage to internal components. Ensure the hob is stable and elevated to allow air circulation for the cooling fan.
  • Surface Protection: To prevent scratching the glass top and to provide stability, consider placing a heat-resistant silicone mat underneath the hob.
  • Edge Protection: The glass top does not have edge protection, so exercise caution to avoid chipping or cracking if used portably.

5. Operating Instructions

The Gudsunal Induction Hob features intuitive touch controls.

Basic Operation

  1. Power On/Off: Touch the Power button (usually indicated by a circle with a vertical line) to turn the hob on or off.
  2. Select Cooking Zone: Once powered on, select the desired cooking zone by touching its corresponding zone selection button.
  3. Adjust Power Level: Use the + and - buttons to adjust the power level from 1 to 9.
  4. Boost Function: For rapid heating, select a zone and then touch the Boost button (often indicated by 'B'). This provides maximum power for a short period.

Timer Function

The timer can be used as a simple countdown or to automatically switch off a cooking zone.

  • Setting the Timer: With a cooking zone active, touch the Timer button. Use the + and - buttons to set the desired time (1 to 99 minutes).
  • Automatic Shut-off: When the set time expires, the selected cooking zone will automatically turn off.

Child Safety Lock

To activate the child lock, touch and hold the Lock button (often indicated by a padlock icon) for a few seconds until the indicator light illuminates. To deactivate, repeat the process.

Low-Power Continuous Heating

This hob features a low-power continuous heating mode, which is ideal for simmering and stewing. Unlike some induction hobs that pulse on and off at low settings, this feature provides a more consistent low heat.

6. Care and Maintenance

Proper care ensures the longevity and performance of your induction hob.

  • Cleaning the Glass Surface: After each use, allow the hob to cool down. Wipe the glass surface with a damp cloth and a mild detergent. For stubborn stains, use a ceramic hob cleaner. Avoid abrasive cleaners or scouring pads.
  • Preventing Scratches: To protect the glass surface from scratches, especially when dragging pans, consider using a glass-fibre reinforced silicone rubber mat designed for induction hobs. These mats can often be left on the hob during cooking.
  • Ventilation Grilles: Ensure the ventilation grilles underneath and around the hob are kept clear of dust and debris to maintain proper airflow.
  • Do Not Submerge: Never immerse the hob in water or spray water directly onto it.
