3. Setup

3.1 Unboxing

The package includes the Jumper Bumblebee radio transmitter. Inspect the contents for any damage. If any components are missing or damaged, contact your retailer.

3.2 Battery Installation

The Jumper Bumblebee requires two 18650 batteries (not included). To install:

  1. Locate the battery compartment on the rear of the transmitter.
  2. Remove the anti-slip battery cover.
  3. Insert two 18650 batteries, ensuring correct polarity as indicated inside the compartment.
  4. Replace the battery cover securely.

3.3 Initial Power-On

Press and hold the power button located on the front of the transmitter until the OLED screen illuminates. The EdgeTX system will boot up.

3.4 Binding with Receivers

The Jumper Bumblebee utilizes the ExpressLRS (ELRS) protocol. To bind your transmitter with an ELRS receiver (e.g., EP1, EP2, BetaFPV, Happymodel), follow the specific binding procedure for your receiver. Generally, this involves:

  1. Power on your receiver.
  2. Initiate binding mode on the receiver (often by cycling power three times or pressing a bind button).
  3. On the transmitter, navigate to the ELRS module settings within EdgeTX and select the 'Bind' option.
  4. Confirm successful binding via the receiver's LED indicator.

3.5 Firmware Updates

The transmitter's firmware can be updated via the USB-C port. Refer to the official EdgeTX documentation for detailed instructions on updating the firmware.

4. Operating Instructions

4.1 Basic Controls

  • Gimbals: Control the primary movements of your aircraft (throttle, yaw, pitch, roll).
  • Switches: Utilize the various two-position and six-position switches for auxiliary functions such as arming, flight modes, or special actions.
  • Trim Buttons: Adjust the neutral position of your control surfaces for stable flight.
  • Scroll Wheel & Confirmation Button: Used for navigating menus and confirming selections on the OLED screen.
  • Menu Button: Access the main menu of the EdgeTX system.
  • Page Button: Cycle through different pages or screens within the EdgeTX menu.
  • RTN Button: Return to the previous menu or screen.

4.2 EdgeTX Menu Navigation

The EdgeTX firmware provides extensive customization options. Use the scroll wheel to navigate through menu items and the confirmation button to select. The menu button accesses the main menu, while the page and RTN buttons assist in navigating through different settings and returning to previous screens.

4.3 Simulator Use

The Jumper Bumblebee can be used with flight simulators. Connect the transmitter to your computer via the USB-C port or a 3.5mm standard PPM output cable. Configure your simulator software to recognize the transmitter as a joystick or game controller.

5. Maintenance

5.1 Battery Care

  • Always use high-quality 18650 batteries.
  • Charge batteries using the integrated USB-C port or an external 18650 charger.
  • Do not overcharge or deeply discharge batteries.
  • Remove batteries if the transmitter will not be used for an extended period.

5.2 Cleaning

Clean the transmitter with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid using harsh chemicals or solvents that could damage the plastic or electronic components.

5.3 Firmware Updates

  • No control response: Confirm successful binding. Check model settings in EdgeTX. Ensure receiver is powered and correctly connected to the flight controller.
  • Gimbal calibration: If controls feel off, perform a gimbal calibration through the EdgeTX system menu.
