4.3. Initial Power On and Charging
- Before first use, ensure the E1 receiver is fully charged. Connect the provided USB-Type C cable to the receiver and the charger to a power outlet.
- The charging indicator light on the E1 receiver will show its status. Refer to the Quick Start Guide for specific indicator light patterns.
- To power on the E1 receiver, press and hold the power button until the indicator lights illuminate.
5. Operation Guide
5.1. Basic Operation Modes
The SingularXYZ E1 GNSS receiver supports various operation modes for different surveying applications. Common modes include:
- Static Surveying: For achieving the highest accuracy by collecting raw GNSS data over an extended period for post-processing.
- RTK (Real-Time Kinematic) Surveying: For real-time high-accuracy positioning using correction data from a base station or network. The E1 can function as a base station to transmit corrections.
- PPK (Post-Processed Kinematic) Surveying: Similar to RTK but correction data is applied after data collection.
5.2. Connecting to a Data Collector
The E1 receiver typically connects to a data collector (not included) via Bluetooth or USB for configuration and data management. Refer to your data collector's manual for specific connection procedures.
- Ensure Bluetooth is enabled on both the E1 receiver and your data collector.
- Search for available devices on your data collector and select the E1 receiver.
- Pair the devices using the default PIN (if required, refer to the Quick Start Guide).
- Once connected, use the data collector's software to configure the E1 receiver's settings, such as observation interval, data logging, and RTK correction source.
5.3. Data Collection
Follow the instructions in your data collector's software to initiate data collection. Ensure the E1 receiver has a clear view of the sky for optimal satellite reception.
For RTK operations, confirm that the base station is transmitting corrections and the rover (if applicable) is receiving them.
6. Maintenance and Care
- Cleaning: Wipe the E1 receiver and tripod with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners.
- Storage: Store the equipment in its carrying case in a cool, dry place when not in use. Avoid extreme temperatures and direct sunlight.
- Battery Care: To prolong battery life, avoid fully discharging the battery frequently. Charge the battery regularly, even during long periods of storage.
- Firmware Updates: Periodically check the SingularXYZ official website for firmware updates for the E1 receiver to ensure optimal performance and access to new features.
- Inspection: Regularly inspect cables, connectors, and the tripod for any signs of wear or damage. Replace damaged components immediately.
7. Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| E1 receiver does not power on. | Low or depleted battery. | Charge the E1 receiver using the provided charger and USB-C cable. |
| No satellite signal. | Obstruction (buildings, trees) blocking sky view. | Relocate the receiver to an open area with a clear view of the sky. |
| RTK corrections not being received. | Incorrect radio frequency/protocol settings; Base station not transmitting; Rover out of range. | Verify radio settings on both base and rover. Ensure base station is powered on and transmitting. Check range and line of sight. |
| Unstable or inaccurate positioning. | Poor satellite geometry; High multipath environment; Interference. | Wait for better satellite conditions. Move away from reflective surfaces or sources of electromagnetic interference. |
| Cannot connect to data collector via Bluetooth. | Bluetooth not enabled; Pairing issue; Out of range. | Ensure Bluetooth is active on both devices. Re-attempt pairing. Move data collector closer to the E1 receiver. |
