2. Product Overview

The Creality Otter Lite is a portable, wireless 3D scanner designed for high-precision 3D model acquisition. It features a fully wireless design with a built-in WiFi 6 module and a detachable handle, offering flexibility for both handheld and stationary scanning. The device is capable of scanning objects ranging from 20mm to 2000mm with an accuracy of up to 0.05mm and a scanning speed of up to 30 frames per second (fps).

The Otter Lite, especially when paired with the Lite Bridge, provides a seamless scanning experience without the need for external cables, thanks to its innovative Pogo Pin power interface. It supports 24-bit full-color scanning, anti-shake tracking, and can scan challenging black or metal objects without requiring spray.

4. Setup

4.1 Unboxing and Initial Inspection

Carefully remove the Creality Otter Lite 3D Scanner and all accessories from the packaging. Verify that all components listed in the "What's in the Box" section are present and undamaged. The package includes the Otter Lite 3D Scanner unit.

4.2 Charging the Device

The Otter Lite is powered by a 3400mAh Lithium Ion battery integrated into the Lite Bridge handle. Before first use, fully charge the device. Connect the provided charging cable to the scanner's charging port and to a suitable power source. The device supports fast charging, reaching 80% capacity in approximately one hour. Battery indicator lights will show the charging status.

4.3 Software Installation (CrealityScan 4.0)

Download and install the CrealityScan 4.0 software on your computer or mobile device. This software is essential for controlling the scanner, processing scan data, and exporting 3D models. Refer to the official Creality website for the latest software version and installation instructions.

4.4 Connecting the Scanner

The Otter Lite connects wirelessly via WiFi 6. Ensure your computer or mobile device is connected to the same network or directly to the scanner's WiFi hotspot. The Pogo Pin interface on the Lite Bridge handle facilitates a stable and fast data transmission connection.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1 Basic Scanning Process

  1. Power On: Press the power button on the scanner. The indicator lights will illuminate.
  2. Launch Software: Open CrealityScan 4.0 on your connected device.
  3. Select Scan Mode: Choose the appropriate scanning mode (e.g., general, marker, face & body) based on your object and requirements.
  4. Position Object: Place the object to be scanned on a stable surface. For optimal results, ensure good lighting.
  5. Start Scanning: Press the 'Start/Pause' button on the scanner or within the software. Move the scanner smoothly around the object, maintaining a consistent distance.
  6. Monitor Progress: Observe the real-time preview on your screen to ensure proper data capture and tracking.
  7. Adjust Exposure: Use the exposure adjustment buttons on the scanner to optimize scanning in varying light conditions.
  8. Complete Scan: Once the desired data is captured, press 'Start/Pause' again to stop.
  9. Process Data: Use CrealityScan 4.0 to process the raw scan data, including alignment, point cloud editing, and mesh generation.
  10. Export Model: Export the final 3D model in a compatible format for 3D printing or other applications.

6. Maintenance

6.1 Cleaning the Scanner

Regularly clean the scanner's lenses and body with a soft, dry, lint-free cloth. Avoid using abrasive cleaners or solvents that could damage the device. Ensure no dust or debris obstructs the optical components.

6.2 Battery Care

To prolong battery life, avoid fully discharging the device frequently. Store the scanner in a cool, dry place when not in use. If storing for extended periods, ensure the battery is charged to approximately 50%.

6.3 Software Updates

Periodically check the official Creality website for software updates for CrealityScan 4.0. Keeping your software updated ensures access to the latest features, performance improvements, and bug fixes.

6.4 Storage

Store the scanner in its original packaging or a protective case to prevent damage from impacts or environmental factors. Avoid exposing the device to extreme temperatures or humidity.
