5.2 Firmware Updates

Regular firmware updates are released to improve functionality, fix bugs, and enhance security. It is recommended to keep your camera's firmware updated for optimal performance. Updates can be managed through the Reolink App.

6. Troubleshooting

6.1 Installation Challenges

  • Mounting Design: Some users report difficulties with ceiling mounting due to screw placement and the patented connector. Ensure careful alignment and consider professional installation if unsure.
  • Wiring: The camera requires hardwiring (AC 100–240V). Ensure proper wire connections (live, neutral, ground) to the terminal block.

6.2 Motion Detection & Tracking

  • Overly Sensitive Detection: Adjust motion sensitivity settings within the Reolink App to reduce false alerts from environmental factors.
  • Privacy Mask/Non-Detection Zones: These features move with PTZ position, potentially causing conflicts during auto-tracking. Reolink is actively working on firmware improvements for this interaction.
  • Auto-Tracking Movement: The camera waits for motion to reach the edge of the frame before moving, which can result in abrupt movements.

6.3 Connectivity & App Issues

  • Intermittent Wi-Fi: Ensure your router supports Wi-Fi 6 for a faster and more stable connection. Check for firmware updates as these often resolve connectivity issues.
  • Google Home Integration: If experiencing issues with video feed or floodlight control, try disabling and re-enabling Google Home integration within the Reolink App and then relinking in the Google Home App.

6.4 Video Playback & Quality

  • Zoom File Playback: If downloaded zoom files do not play back, ensure your Reolink App is updated to the latest version.
  • Motion Artifacts: Due to the tracking nature of the camera, some motion artifacts may appear in the footage.
