BOLDBONE 54-inch Heavy Duty Dog Crate with Divider (Model HDDC)

Instruction Manual

1. Introduction

This manual provides detailed instructions for the assembly, operation, maintenance, and safety of your BOLDBONE 54-inch Heavy Duty Dog Crate with Divider, Model HDDC. Please read all instructions carefully before assembly and use to ensure proper function and the safety of your pet.

The BOLDBONE Heavy Duty Dog Crate is designed for large and extra-large dogs, featuring a robust alloy steel construction, a removable divider for flexible space management, and lockable wheels for easy mobility. Its chew-proof and escape-proof design provides a secure environment for your dog.

2. Product Features

  • 2-in-1 Design: Removable divider allows for two separate compartments or one large space.
  • Indestructible & Safe: Constructed from upgraded 20-gauge steel frame and reinforced 0.5-inch-diameter steel tubes. Features double sturdy slide bolt latches for security.
  • Durable & Reliable: Long-lasting, non-toxic hammer-tone coating resists rust and corrosion, suitable for indoor and outdoor use.
  • Easy Access & Cleaning: Wide opening double doors and a removable grate with a leak-proof plastic pan facilitate feeding and cleaning.
  • Mobility: 360-degree swivel caster wheels with brakes allow for easy movement and secure placement.

3. Safety Information

  • Always remove your dog's collar before placing them in the crate to prevent entanglement.
  • Ensure the crate size is appropriate for your dog. Measure your dog's length and height, then add 4 inches to each measurement to allow for comfortable movement.
  • When introducing your dog to the crate, allow them to acclimate gradually. Initially, do not lock the door and place chew toys inside to create a positive association. Only use the door lock function once your dog is comfortable with the crate environment.
  • Regularly inspect the crate for any damaged parts or sharp edges that could harm your pet.
  • Ensure all latches are securely fastened when the dog is inside the crate.

4. Package Contents

Verify that all components are present before beginning assembly. If any parts are missing or damaged, please contact customer support.

  • Bottom Grate
  • Plastic Leak-proof Pan

5. Setup and Assembly Instructions

Assembly typically requires two people due to the size and weight of the crate components. A wrench is included, but a power drill with appropriate bit may speed up the process.

  1. Unpack Components: Carefully remove all parts from the packaging and lay them out on a clean, flat surface. Verify all parts are present according to the package contents list.
  2. Attach Caster Wheels: Secure the four caster wheels to the bottom frame of the crate. Ensure the wheels with brakes are positioned at the front for easy access. Tighten securely.
  3. Assemble Side Panels: Connect the side panels to the rear panel using the provided bolts and nuts. Do not fully tighten all bolts until the entire frame is assembled.
  4. Attach Front Panel: Connect the front panel (with doors) to the assembled side and rear panels. Ensure the doors open and close freely.
  5. Install Top Panels: Place the two top panels onto the assembled frame and secure them with bolts and nuts.
  6. Insert Bottom Grate: Slide the metal bottom grate into the designated slots at the bottom of the crate.
  7. Insert Plastic Pan: Slide the leak-proof plastic pan underneath the bottom grate. Ensure it is fully inserted and sits flush.
  8. Install Divider (Optional): If using the divider, slide it into the central slots to create two separate compartments.
  9. Final Tightening: Once all panels are in place and aligned, fully tighten all bolts and nuts using the provided wrench.

6. Operating Instructions

  • Opening/Closing Doors: The crate features double doors on the front. Slide the bolt latches to open or close the doors. Ensure both latches are engaged when the doors are closed to prevent escape.
  • Using the Divider: The divider can be inserted or removed as needed. To insert, slide it into the central vertical slots. To remove, lift it out of the slots. This allows you to adjust the living space for a growing puppy or to house two smaller dogs.
  • Moving the Crate: Unlock the brakes on the caster wheels to move the crate. Once in the desired location, engage the wheel brakes to secure the crate in place.
  • Top Access: The top panels can be opened for easier access to your pet or for cleaning the interior. Securely close and latch the top panels after use.

7. Maintenance and Cleaning

  • Daily Cleaning: Remove the plastic leak-proof pan daily for cleaning. Wash with mild soap and water, then rinse thoroughly and dry before reinserting.
  • Crate Cleaning: Wipe down the metal frame and grate with a damp cloth and mild, pet-safe cleaner as needed. Avoid abrasive cleaners that could damage the coating.
  • Inspection: Periodically check all bolts, nuts, and latches to ensure they are tight and functioning correctly. Tighten any loose hardware.
  • Rust Prevention: While the hammer-tone coating is rust-resistant, avoid prolonged exposure to moisture to maintain the crate's condition, especially if used outdoors.

8. Troubleshooting

  • Crate Rattling: If the crate rattles when your dog moves, ensure all assembly bolts are fully tightened. Consider adding small rubber bumpers or felt pads to contact points, especially on doors, to reduce noise.
  • Difficulty Sliding Pan: Ensure the bottom grate is correctly seated and that no debris is obstructing the pan's path. If the pan still does not slide smoothly, check for any bent frame components.
  • Dog Anxiety in Crate: If your dog exhibits anxiety, refer to the safety information section regarding gradual acclimation. Never use the crate as punishment. Consult a professional dog trainer for persistent anxiety issues.
  • Escape Attempts: Ensure all latches are fully engaged. Verify that the crate size is appropriate for your dog and that there are no weak points or gaps in the assembly.
