7. Calibration

Regular calibration is crucial for maintaining the accuracy of your pH meter. Use the provided pH buffer powders for calibration.

7.1. Calibration Procedure

  1. Prepare the buffer solutions according to the instructions on the buffer powder packets (e.g., pH 4.00, pH 6.86, pH 9.18).
  2. Turn on the pH meter.
  3. Rinse the electrode with distilled water and blot dry.
  4. Immerse the electrode into the first buffer solution (e.g., pH 6.86).
  5. Press the CAL button. The meter will automatically recognize the buffer and calibrate. Wait for the calibration indicator to confirm completion.
  6. Rinse the electrode again with distilled water.
  7. Repeat steps 4-6 for the remaining buffer solutions (e.g., pH 4.00 and pH 9.18) in ascending or descending order as per standard practice.
  8. After calibration, rinse the electrode and store it properly.

8. Maintenance

8.1. Cleaning

After each use, rinse the electrode thoroughly with distilled water to remove any sample residue. Do not use abrasive materials or strong solvents.

8.2. Electrode Care

Keep the electrode moist by storing it in a protective solution (e.g., KCL solution or electrode storage solution) when not in use. Never allow the electrode to dry out, as this can damage it and affect accuracy.

8.3. Storage

Store the pH meter in its protective case in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. Ensure the electrode cap is securely in place.
