Installation Steps:

  1. Prepare the Duct: Choose an appropriate location in your HVAC ductwork. Using the provided base plate as a template, mark the center for the hole. The recommended hole size is approximately 3.375 inches (3 3/8 inches) in diameter.
  2. Drill the Hole: Carefully drill a circular hole in the ductwork at the marked location. Ensure the hole is clean and free of burrs.
  3. Attach the Base Plate: Position the base plate over the drilled hole. Secure it to the duct using the provided self-drilling screws. Alternatively, for a less invasive method, use the included double-sided tape to firmly attach the base plate to the duct surface.
  4. Insert the UV Light: Gently insert the UV light bulb assembly into the opening of the base plate. Push it in until it is fully seated.
  5. Lock the Light: Rotate the UV light assembly clockwise to lock it securely into the base plate. Ensure it is firmly in place to prevent accidental dislodgement.
  6. Connect Power: Plug the power cord into a standard 110V AC wall socket. A blue indicator light on the unit should illuminate, confirming the light is operational.

5. Operating Instructions

The COOSPIDER 80W HVAC Duct UVC Light is designed for continuous operation when powered. Once installed and connected to a power source, the unit will begin emitting UVC light to sanitize the air flowing through your HVAC system.

  • Power On: After installation, plug the unit into a 110V AC outlet. The blue indicator light on the unit will confirm it is receiving power and operating.
  • Continuous Operation: For optimal air sanitization, the UVC light should operate whenever your HVAC system is running. Consider connecting it to a switched outlet or integrating it with your HVAC system's controls (professional installation recommended for integration).
  • Visual Check: Periodically check the blue indicator light to ensure the unit is powered and functioning.

6. Maintenance and Bulb Replacement

Regular maintenance, primarily bulb replacement, is crucial for maintaining the effectiveness of your UVC light. The bulb has an estimated lifespan of 12,000 hours.

Bulb Replacement Steps:

  1. Disconnect Power: Crucially, disconnect the power to the UVC light and the entire HVAC system before attempting any maintenance.
  2. Unlock the Bulb: Grasp the base of the UV light assembly and rotate it counterclockwise to unlock it from the base plate.
  3. Remove Old Bulb: Carefully pull the entire bulb assembly out of the duct.
  4. Install New Bulb: Insert the new COOSPIDER 80W UVC replacement bulb assembly into the base plate opening.
  5. Lock New Bulb: Rotate the new bulb assembly clockwise until it locks securely into place.
  6. Reconnect Power: Restore power to the HVAC system and the UVC light. Verify the blue indicator light is on.

Note: Always handle new bulbs with gloves or a clean cloth to avoid transferring oils from your skin, which can affect bulb performance and lifespan. Dispose of old bulbs responsibly according to local regulations.
