2. Safety Information

Adhere to the following safety precautions to prevent injury or damage to the product:

  • Electrical Compatibility: Use only on a 120 V electrical circuit. Do not connect these LED lights with incandescent light strings.
  • Connection Limit: Do not connect more than 36 sets of these string lights to one outlet. Exceeding this limit can cause electrical overload.
  • Inspection: Before each use, inspect the string lights for any damage to the wire, bulbs, or plugs. Do not use if damaged.
  • Installation: Ensure all connections are secure. Do not mount or place near gas or electric heaters, fireplaces, candles, or other similar sources of heat.
  • Outdoor Use: Although designed for outdoor use, ensure plugs and connections are protected from direct water exposure where possible.
  • Unplug When Not in Use: Always unplug the string lights from the power source when not in use or before performing any maintenance.
  • Children and Pets: Keep out of reach of children and pets to prevent entanglement or accidental ingestion of small parts.

3. Package Contents

Verify that all items are present in the package:

  • 1 x NOMA C9 LED String Lights (4.9 m / 16 ft, 24 LEDs)
  • 1 x Spare Fuse
  • 2 x Spare C9 LED Bulbs
  • Installation Hardware (e.g., clips or ties, if included)

4. Setup and Installation

Follow these steps for proper setup and installation:

  1. Unpack and Inspect: Carefully remove the string lights from the packaging. Uncoil the string and inspect all bulbs, wires, and plugs for any signs of damage. Do not plug in if any damage is found.
  2. Plan Placement: Determine the desired location for your string lights. Consider the length (4.9 m / 16 ft) and the proximity to a 120 V power outlet.
  3. Connecting Multiple Sets: These string lights are designed to connect multiple sets end-to-end. Locate the male plug on one end and the female receptacle on the other. Connect the male plug of one set into the female receptacle of another. Remember the limit of 36 sets per outlet.
  4. Mounting: Use appropriate installation hardware (e.g., clips, hooks, or zip ties) to secure the string lights. Ensure the lights are hung securely and the wire is not strained or pinched. Avoid hanging the lights in a way that could cause tripping hazards.
  5. Power Connection: Once securely installed, plug the string lights into a standard 120 V electrical outlet.

Installation Planning Guide

Refer to the following guidelines for estimating the number of lights needed for common applications:

Chart showing how many lights are needed for different applications like trees, rooflines, and railings

Figure 3: Installation planning guide for various applications.

  • Traditional Shaped Tree: For C9 bulbs, approximately 25 lights per foot of tree height.
  • Roofline: A general rule is 16 feet for a standard single car garage and an additional 10-12 feet per awning.
  • Railing: Measure the length end-to-end of the railing. For a standard railing, consider purchasing double the measured length to allow for wrapping.

5. Operating Instructions

Operating your NOMA C9 LED String Lights is straightforward:

  1. Power On: Once the string lights are properly installed and plugged into a 120 V outlet, they will illuminate.
  2. Power Off: To turn off the lights, simply unplug them from the electrical outlet.
  3. Control Method: The lights are controlled by plugging and unplugging the cord. There is no integrated switch.

6. Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and optimal performance of your string lights.

Bulb Replacement

If a bulb burns out, replace it with one of the provided spare C9 LED bulbs. Ensure the string is unplugged before attempting replacement.

  1. Unplug the light string from the power source.
  2. Carefully twist the old bulb counter-clockwise to remove it from its socket.
  3. Insert a new spare C9 LED bulb into the socket and twist clockwise until secure.
  4. Plug the string back in to test the new bulb.

Fuse Replacement

If the entire string of lights fails to illuminate, the fuse in the plug may need replacement.

  1. Unplug the light string from the power source.
  2. Slide open the fuse compartment cover on the plug (usually a small sliding door on the side or top).
  3. Carefully remove the old fuse.
  4. Insert the new spare fuse into the compartment.
  5. Close the fuse compartment cover.
  6. Plug the string back in to test.

Cleaning and Storage

  • Cleaning: Ensure the lights are unplugged. Wipe bulbs and wires with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners.
  • Storage: When not in use, carefully coil the string lights to prevent tangling and damage. Store in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
