6.2 Sensor Installation and Adjustment

The dual sensors are designed for precise water level detection. They can be adjusted to a range of 0.5 to 20 inches to define the high and low water levels for pump activation and deactivation.

  1. Position the sensors within the water container (sump pit, tank, etc.).
  2. Adjust the height of the 'Hi' sensor to the desired water level for pump activation.
  3. Adjust the height of the 'Lo' sensor to the desired water level for pump deactivation. Ensure the 'Lo' sensor is below the 'Hi' sensor.
  4. Secure the sensor cables to prevent movement.

7. Operating Instructions

7.1 Control Panel Overview

The controller features LED indicators and buttons for mode selection and status monitoring.

7.2 Dual-Mode Control (Drain/Fill)

The controller supports two primary operational modes:

  • Drain Mode: Used for drainage applications, such as sewage pits. The pump activates when water reaches the 'Hi' sensor and deactivates when it drops below the 'Lo' sensor.
  • Fill Mode (Water Replenishment): Used for filling applications, such as fish tanks or water towers. The pump activates when water drops below the 'Lo' sensor and deactivates when it reaches the 'Hi' sensor.

Select the desired mode using the appropriate switch or button on the controller.

7.3 Load Operation Settings

The controller offers three adjustable load operation settings (AUTO, OFF, ON) to manage pump behavior:

  • AUTO: The pump operates automatically based on the selected Drain or Fill mode and sensor readings.
  • OFF: The pump is manually turned off, regardless of water levels.
  • ON: The pump is manually turned on, regardless of water levels. Use with caution for testing or continuous operation.

7.4 LED Indicators

Bright LED indicators provide real-time status:

  • Drain/Water: Indicates the current operating mode (Drain or Fill).
  • DisAlarm: Illuminates when an alarm condition is detected (e.g., pump failure, blockage).
  • AUTO/OFF/ON: Shows the current load operation setting.
  • Load: Indicates when the pump is actively running.

7.5 Mute Function

Press the 'Mute' button to silence alarm notifications for up to 24 hours, useful during maintenance or inspection periods.

8. Maintenance

The Ortis controller is designed for low maintenance. However, periodic checks are recommended:

  • Sensor Inspection: Annually inspect the 304 stainless steel electrodes for any significant mineral buildup or debris. While designed to resist buildup, extreme conditions may require cleaning. Gently wipe sensors with a soft cloth if necessary.
  • Cable Integrity: Check all power and sensor cables for signs of wear, cuts, or damage. Replace immediately if damage is found.
  • Controller Housing: Keep the controller housing clean and free from excessive dust or moisture.

Always disconnect power to the controller and pump before performing any maintenance.
