Introduction
This manual provides essential instructions for the installation, operation, and maintenance of the GODIYMODULES 850nm 48-LED IR Illuminator. This device is designed to provide infrared illumination, enhancing the night vision capabilities of compatible CCTV security cameras. Please read this manual thoroughly before use to ensure proper function and safety.
Safety Information
- Power Disconnection: Always ensure the power supply is disconnected before performing any installation, maintenance, or troubleshooting procedures.
- Voltage Compatibility: Use only with a 12V DC power supply. Using an incorrect voltage may damage the device.
- Environmental Conditions: Do not expose the illuminator to water, excessive moisture, or extreme temperatures. This product is designed for integration into a camera housing, which typically provides environmental protection.
- Handling: Handle the circuit board and LEDs with care to avoid physical damage.
- Infrared Light: The 850nm infrared light emitted by this device is not visible to the human eye. Do not stare directly into the LEDs when powered on, as prolonged exposure may be harmful.
Setup and Installation
The IR illuminator is designed for integration into a compatible CCTV camera housing. Ensure the camera housing has a diameter of at least 50mm to accommodate the illuminator board.
Components Included:
- 1 x GODIYMODULES 850nm 48-LED IR Illuminator Board
Wiring Instructions:
- Identify the power input wires on the IR illuminator board. There will be a red wire and a black wire.
- Connect the red wire to the positive (+) terminal of your 12V DC power supply.
- Connect the black wire to the negative (-) terminal of your 12V DC power supply.
- Ensure all connections are secure and properly insulated to prevent short circuits.

Figure 1: Wiring diagram and dimensions of the IR illuminator board. The red wire connects to the positive 12V DC input, and the black wire connects to the negative. The board has a total diameter of 53mm with screw holes spaced for a 50mm diameter.
Physical Installation:
- Carefully place the IR illuminator board into the designated slot within your CCTV camera housing. The board's diameter is 53mm, and it is suitable for camera shells with a 50mm diameter.
- Secure the board using appropriate screws through the provided screw holes, ensuring it is firmly seated and aligned with the camera lens.
- Close the camera housing, ensuring all seals are properly engaged to maintain environmental protection.

Operating Instructions
The GODIYMODULES 850nm 48-LED IR Illuminator operates automatically based on ambient light conditions.
- Power On: Once properly installed and connected to a 12V DC power supply, the illuminator will power on.
- Automatic Activation: The integrated photocell sensor detects ambient light levels. The IR LEDs will automatically activate when the surrounding environment becomes dark enough to require infrared illumination.
- Infrared Light: The 850nm infrared light is not visible to the human eye. You will not see a visible light emitted from the LEDs when they are active. Your CCTV camera, if equipped with night vision, will utilize this infrared light to produce a clear image in low-light or no-light conditions.
- Power Off: The IR LEDs will automatically deactivate when sufficient ambient light is detected by the photocell sensor. To completely power off the device, disconnect the 12V DC power supply.
Maintenance
The GODIYMODULES IR Illuminator is designed for low maintenance. Follow these guidelines to ensure optimal performance:
- Cleaning: If the illuminator board becomes dusty or dirty, gently wipe it with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use liquid cleaners or abrasive materials, as these can damage the LEDs or circuit board.
- Inspection: Periodically inspect the wiring connections to ensure they remain secure and free from corrosion or damage.
- Environmental Protection: Ensure the camera housing remains sealed and free from moisture ingress, which can damage the internal components of the illuminator.
Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| IR Illuminator does not turn on in the dark. | No power supply; incorrect wiring; faulty photocell; insufficient darkness. | Check 12V DC power connection. Verify red wire to + and black wire to -. Ensure ambient light is low enough for activation. Test in complete darkness. |
| IR Illuminator stays on during daylight. | Photocell obstructed or faulty; constant power supply without sensor input. | Ensure the photocell is clean and unobstructed. Verify proper function of the photocell. |
| Poor night vision performance with IR Illuminator active. | Camera not compatible with 850nm IR; IR illuminator not properly aimed; insufficient power. | Confirm your CCTV camera supports 850nm infrared night vision. Ensure the illuminator is positioned correctly within the camera housing. Verify stable 12V DC power supply. |
