4. Setup and Installation
Before beginning installation, ensure your door meets the following specifications:
- Door Thickness: 35mm - 55mm (1.38 inches - 2.17 inches)
- Backset: 60mm or 70mm (2.36 inches or 2.76 inches)
- Hole Diameter: 54mm (2.13 inches)
4.1. Installation Steps
- Prepare the Door: If replacing an existing deadbolt, remove it. Use the provided installation template to mark and drill holes if necessary.
- Install the Latch: Insert the deadbolt latch into the door edge, ensuring the "UP" arrow is facing upwards. Secure it with screws.
- Install the Exterior Unit: Route the cable from the exterior unit through the deadbolt hole. Align the exterior unit with the latch and secure it to the door.
- Install the Mounting Plate: Pass the cable through the mounting plate. Secure the mounting plate to the door using the long screws, ensuring it is flush and stable.
- Connect Cables: Connect the cable from the exterior unit to the corresponding port on the interior unit. Ensure the connection is secure.
- Install the Interior Unit: Align the interior unit with the mounting plate and secure it with screws. Ensure the thumb turn operates smoothly.
- Install Batteries: Open the battery cover on the interior unit and insert the 10,000mAh rechargeable battery. Close the cover.
- Test Operation: Manually test the deadbolt with the thumb turn and physical key to ensure smooth locking and unlocking.

4.2. App Download and Initial Pairing
The Dalton Z10 Smart Lock operates with the Tuya Smart app. Follow these steps to set up the app and pair your lock:
- Download the App: Search for "Tuya Smart" in your mobile device's app store (iOS App Store or Google Play Store) and download it.
- Register/Log In: Open the app and register for a new account or log in if you already have one.
- Add Device: In the app, tap the "+" icon to add a new device. Select "Security & Video Surveillance" then "Smart Lock (Wi-Fi)".
- Enter Pairing Mode: On the lock, follow the instructions in the app to put the lock into pairing mode (usually by pressing a button on the interior unit or entering a specific sequence on the keypad).
- Connect to Wi-Fi: Enter your Wi-Fi network details in the app. Ensure your phone is connected to a 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network.
- Complete Pairing: The app will search for and connect to your lock. Once connected, you can name your lock and begin configuring settings.
5. Operating Instructions
5.1. Unlocking Methods
- Fingerprint: Place your registered finger on the fingerprint sensor. The lock will unlock if the fingerprint is recognized.
- PIN Code: Enter your registered PIN code on the keypad, followed by the '#' key.
- IC Card: Tap your registered IC card against the card reader area on the exterior unit.
- Mobile App: Open the Tuya Smart app, select your lock, and tap the unlock button.
- Physical Key: Insert the physical key into the keyhole and turn to unlock. This is for emergency access.
5.2. Locking Methods
- Automatic Locking: The lock can be configured to automatically lock after a set period (e.g., 5 seconds) once the door is closed.
- Manual Locking (Keypad): Press and hold the '#' key on the keypad for 2-3 seconds.
- Manual Locking (App): Open the Tuya Smart app, select your lock, and tap the lock button.
- Manual Locking (Thumb Turn): From the inside, rotate the thumb turn to lock the deadbolt.
5.3. User Management (via Tuya Smart App)
The Tuya Smart app allows you to add, modify, and delete users and their access methods.
- Adding Fingerprints: Navigate to "Member Management" or "Fingerprint Management" in the app. Follow the on-screen prompts to register new fingerprints by placing the finger multiple times on the sensor.
- Adding PIN Codes: Create permanent, temporary, or one-time PIN codes. Temporary codes can be set with specific validity periods.
- Adding IC Cards: Register new IC cards by tapping them on the lock's reader when prompted by the app.
- Managing Users: View existing users, modify their access permissions, or delete them as needed.
5.4. Visual Intercom and Remote Unlocking
The built-in camera and intercom feature allow you to communicate with visitors and grant access remotely.
- When a visitor presses the doorbell button on the lock, you will receive a notification on your Tuya Smart app.
- Tap the notification to view the live video feed and engage in two-way audio communication.
- From the live view, you can tap the unlock button in the app to remotely open the door.
5.5. Anti-Pry Alarm and Tamper Lockout
- The lock is equipped with an anti-pry alarm that activates if forced entry is detected.
- After 5 consecutive failed attempts to unlock (e.g., incorrect PIN or fingerprint), the lock will enter a tamper lockout state, disabling access for 1 minute and potentially triggering an alarm.
5.6. Battery Management
- The Dalton Z10 Smart Lock is powered by a 10,000mAh rechargeable battery.
- The Tuya Smart app will provide low-battery alerts, indicating when the battery needs recharging.
- To charge the battery, remove it from the interior unit and connect it to a suitable USB charger.
- A full charge can last up to 3 months, depending on usage frequency.
- In case of complete battery depletion, you can use the physical key for emergency access or connect a portable power bank to the emergency power port (usually a micro-USB or USB-C port on the exterior unit) to temporarily power the lock.
6. Maintenance
- Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the lock's surface. Avoid abrasive cleaners, solvents, or harsh chemicals that could damage the finish or electronic components.
- Battery Charging: Recharge the battery promptly when low-battery alerts are received to ensure continuous operation.
- Firmware Updates: Periodically check the Tuya Smart app for available firmware updates for your lock. Updates can improve performance, add new features, and enhance security. Follow the app's instructions carefully during updates.
- Physical Key Maintenance: Store the physical keys in a safe, accessible location outside the property. Do not store them inside the property where the lock is installed.
