Controls
- Variable Speed Control: The central dial allows you to fine-tune every texture, from smooth purées to chunky salsas. Start at a low speed and gradually increase to your desired setting.
- Pulse Feature: Located on the left, the Pulse switch provides quick bursts of power. This is ideal for layering coarse chops over smooth purées, such as for chunky pasta sauce or thick vegetable soups.
- Start/Stop Switch: Located on the right, this switch initiates and stops the blending cycle.
- Digital Timer: A built-in digital timer helps you avoid over-processing your blends, ensuring you achieve the perfect texture every time.
Blending Techniques
- Adding Ingredients: Always add liquids first, followed by soft ingredients, leafy greens, fruits, and then ice or frozen ingredients.
- Starting the Blend: Turn the Variable Speed Control to setting 1. Flip the Start/Stop switch to the ON position.
- Increasing Speed: Slowly rotate the Variable Speed Control dial from 1 to 10 to increase blending speed. For most recipes, it is recommended to increase to high speed to create the Vitamix vortex.
- Using the Tamper: If ingredients stop circulating, use the tamper through the lid plug opening to push ingredients into the blades. Do not force the tamper into the container.
- Stopping the Blend: When desired consistency is reached, flip the Start/Stop switch to the OFF position.
