Introduction
This manual provides detailed instructions for the installation, operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of your CMSTEDCD HDMI KVM Switch. This device allows you to control three computers using a single set of keyboard and mouse, while sharing two monitors and four USB 3.0 peripherals.
Important Note Before Purchase:
- Each computer must have two signal output ports to provide both local and extended desktop displays to the monitors.
- If your computer or monitor interfaces are not HDMI, or if your laptop/Mac only has a USB-C port, please contact customer service to confirm compatibility before proceeding.
- The remote control included with this product does not contain batteries. You will need to purchase your own AAA batteries for normal use.

- Power Connection: Connect the 12V power adapter to the DC12V port on the KVM switch and plug it into a power outlet.
- Monitor Connection: Connect your two monitors to the KVM switch's OUTA and OUTB HDMI ports using HDMI cables.
- PC to KVM Connection (Video): For each PC (PC1, PC2, PC3), connect its two HDMI output ports to the corresponding HDMI IN ports on the KVM switch (e.g., PC1's HDMI outputs to PC1 IN HDMI A and PC1 IN HDMI B).
- PC to KVM Connection (USB): For each PC, connect its USB 3.0 port to the corresponding USB 3.0 IN port on the KVM switch (e.g., PC1's USB 3.0 to PC1 IN USB 3.0).
- Peripheral Connection: Connect your USB keyboard, mouse, flash disk, or other USB 3.0 peripherals to the four USB 3.0 ports on the front of the KVM switch.
- IR Extender (Optional): If using the remote control, connect the IR extender cable to the EXT IR port on the KVM switch and place the IR receiver in a visible location. Insert AAA batteries into the remote control.
- Power On: Turn on the KVM switch using the ON/OFF button and then power on all connected computers and monitors.
Operating Instructions
The KVM switch offers flexible control over your connected computers and displays.
Switching Between Computers

There are two primary methods to switch between the connected PCs:
- Button Switch: Press the corresponding PC1, PC2, or PC3 button on the front panel of the KVM switch to instantly switch control to that computer.
- Wireless Remote Control: Use the provided wireless remote control to switch between PCs from a distance. This allows for a cleaner desktop setup.
Display Modes

The KVM switch supports two main display modes:
- Extend Displays Mode: This mode allows you to extend your desktop across two monitors, providing more screen real estate for multitasking.
- Mirror Displays Mode (Copy Mode): In this mode, the same image is displayed simultaneously on both monitors.
USB 3.0 Functionality

The KVM switch is equipped with four USB 3.0 ports, offering a maximum transfer rate of 5 Gbps. This allows you to connect various USB devices such as keyboards, mice, printers, and scanners. USB 3.0 supports hot-swapping, protecting your devices and data, and is backward compatible with USB 2.0 and 1.1.
EDID Functionality
The KVM switch incorporates EDID (Extended Display Identification Data) functions to enhance your experience:
- When switching between PCs, the window layout on the active PC will be preserved, preventing disruption.
- The KVM switch automatically detects and applies the optimal resolution for your connected monitors.

Maintenance
To ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your KVM switch, follow these maintenance guidelines:
- Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the exterior of the device. Avoid using liquid cleaners or abrasive materials.
- Ventilation: Ensure the KVM switch is placed in a well-ventilated area to prevent overheating. Do not block any ventilation openings.
- Cable Management: Keep cables organized and free from kinks or excessive bending to prevent damage.
- Power Off When Not in Use: If the device will not be used for an extended period, it is recommended to power it off.
Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your KVM switch, please refer to the following common problems and solutions:
- No Display on Monitor:
- Ensure all HDMI cables are securely connected to both the KVM switch and the monitors/PCs.
- Verify that the KVM switch is powered on and the correct PC input is selected.
- Check the display settings on your computer to ensure the monitors are detected and configured correctly (extended or mirror mode).
- Try connecting a single PC directly to a monitor to rule out monitor or PC display issues.
- Keyboard/Mouse Not Responding:
- Ensure the USB 3.0 cables from the PCs to the KVM switch are properly connected.
- Verify that your keyboard and mouse are connected to the designated USB 3.0 peripheral ports on the KVM switch.
- Try connecting the keyboard/mouse directly to the PC to confirm they are functional.
- Some specialized gaming keyboards/mice may require direct connection or specific drivers; try a standard keyboard/mouse first.
- Remote Control Not Working:
- Ensure AAA batteries are correctly inserted into the remote control.
- Verify the IR extender cable is securely connected to the KVM switch and the IR receiver is unobstructed and facing the remote.
- Resolution Issues:
- Ensure your graphics card and monitors support the desired resolution (e.g., 4K@60Hz).
- Update your graphics card drivers on the connected PCs.
If problems persist after trying these solutions, please contact customer support.
