1. Product Overview

The WISCENT WTB-732 is a versatile retro-style portable boombox designed to offer a blend of classic audio experiences with modern connectivity. It features a cassette player and recorder, AM/FM/SW1/SW2 radio, Bluetooth for wireless streaming, and USB/Micro SD card slots for digital audio playback. Dual full-range speakers provide 24W of audio output, with adjustable bass and treble controls for a customized listening experience.

2. Setup Instructions

2.1 Powering the Boombox

The WTB-732 boombox can be powered using two methods:

  • AC Power: Connect the included AC power cord (100-240V) to the AC port on the back of the unit and plug it into a standard wall outlet.
  • DC Power (Batteries): For portable use, insert 6 UM-1 type batteries (not included) into the battery compartment located on the bottom of the unit. Alternatively, 2 rechargeable batteries (not included) can be used. Ensure correct polarity when inserting batteries.

2.2 Initial Power On

Once powered, slide the FUNCTION switch to select your desired mode (RADIO, TAPE, MP3/BT). The unit will power on and be ready for operation.

3. Operating Instructions

3.1 General Controls

The top panel features various controls for audio adjustment and playback functions:

  • VOLUME: Adjusts the overall sound level.
  • BASS: Adjusts the low-frequency audio output.
  • TREBLE: Adjusts the high-frequency audio output.
  • Cassette Controls: PAUSE, STOP/EJECT, F.FWD (Fast Forward), REW (Rewind), PLAY, REC (Record).
  • TUNING: Rotates to select radio frequencies.
  • BAND: Selects radio band (SW2, SW1, AM, FM).
  • FUNCTION: Selects operating mode (RADIO, TAPE, MP3/BT, OFF).

3.2 Radio Operation

To listen to the radio:

  1. Slide the FUNCTION switch to RADIO.
  2. Slide the BAND switch to select your desired frequency band: FM, AM, SW1, or SW2.
  3. Extend the telescopic antenna for optimal reception.
  4. Rotate the TUNING knob to find a station.

3.3 Cassette Player/Recorder

To play a cassette tape:

  1. Slide the FUNCTION switch to TAPE.
  2. Press the STOP/EJECT button to open the cassette door.
  3. Insert a cassette tape with the open edge facing upwards.
  4. Close the cassette door and press the PLAY button.
  5. Use PAUSE, F.FWD, and REW for playback control.

To record:

  1. Insert a blank cassette tape.
  2. Select the audio source (Radio, Bluetooth, USB/Micro SD).
  3. Press the REC button to begin recording.
  4. Press STOP/EJECT to end recording.

3.4 Bluetooth Connectivity

To connect via Bluetooth:

  1. Slide the FUNCTION switch to MP3/BT. The unit will enter Bluetooth pairing mode.
  2. On your mobile device, enable Bluetooth and search for available devices.
  3. Select "WTB-732" from the list to pair.
  4. Once paired, you can stream audio wirelessly from your device.

Note: This boombox supports Bluetooth reception only and does not support Bluetooth transmission or Bluetooth headsets.

3.5 USB/Micro SD Playback

To play audio from a USB drive or Micro SD card:

  1. Slide the FUNCTION switch to MP3/BT.
  2. Insert a USB drive (up to 64GB, FAT32 format) into the USB slot or a Micro SD (TF) card into the TF slot on the side panel.
  3. The unit will automatically detect and play MP3/WMA files.
  4. Use the playback control buttons (Play/Pause, Next, Previous) on the side panel to manage your music.

3.6 Headphone Jack

For private listening, connect wired headphones (not included) to the headphone jack located on the side panel of the boombox.

4. Maintenance

To ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your WISCENT WTB-732 boombox, follow these maintenance guidelines:

  • Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the exterior of the unit. Do not use liquid cleaners or abrasive materials, as they may damage the finish.
  • Cassette Deck Care: Periodically clean the tape heads and pinch rollers with a specialized cassette head cleaner to prevent sound degradation.
  • Storage: When not in use for extended periods, remove batteries to prevent leakage. Store the unit in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
  • Antenna: Handle the telescopic antenna gently to avoid bending or breaking.

5. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your boombox, refer to the following common solutions:

  • No Power:
    • Ensure the AC power cord is securely plugged into both the unit and a working outlet.
    • If using batteries, check that they are inserted correctly with the right polarity and are not depleted.
    • Verify the FUNCTION switch is not in the OFF position.
  • No Sound:
    • Check the VOLUME knob and ensure it is turned up.
    • If using headphones, ensure they are fully plugged in and functioning.
    • For radio, adjust the TUNING knob and BAND switch for better reception.
    • For cassette, ensure the tape is properly inserted and the tape heads are clean.
    • For Bluetooth/USB/Micro SD, ensure the correct mode is selected and the audio source is playing.
  • Poor Radio Reception:
    • Fully extend and adjust the telescopic antenna.
    • Try repositioning the boombox to a different location.
    • For AM, rotating the unit may improve reception.
  • Cassette Playback Issues (e.g., muffled sound, tape eating):
    • Clean the tape heads and pinch rollers.
    • Ensure the tape is not damaged or tangled.
  • Bluetooth Pairing Failure:
    • Ensure the boombox is in MP3/BT mode.
    • Make sure your device's Bluetooth is enabled and within range.
    • Forget the device from your phone's Bluetooth settings and try pairing again.
