The Blink Outdoor 4 XR + Mini 2 system provides comprehensive security for your home, combining wireless outdoor cameras with a compact indoor plug-in camera. Key features include 1080p HD live view, infrared night vision, two-way audio, and enhanced motion detection. The Outdoor 4 cameras offer a two-year battery life, while the Mini 2 provides flexible plug-in power. Footage can be stored securely in the cloud with a Blink Subscription Plan (trial included) or locally via the Sync Module XR with a MicroSD card (sold separately).

Setup Guide

Follow these steps to set up your Blink security camera system.

1. Download the Blink App

Download the Blink Home Monitor app from your device's app store (iOS or Android). Create an account or log in if you already have one.

2. Set Up the Sync Module XR

1. Plug the Sync Module XR into a power outlet near your Wi-Fi router.
2. Open the Blink app and follow the on-screen instructions to add the Sync Module XR to your account. This involves scanning a QR code on the device and connecting it to your home Wi-Fi network.

3. Install Outdoor 4 Cameras

1. Insert the included AA lithium batteries into each Outdoor 4 camera. Ensure correct polarity.
2. In the Blink app, add each Outdoor 4 camera by selecting "Add Device" and following the prompts. The app will guide you through connecting the camera to your Sync Module XR.
3. Mount the Outdoor 4 cameras in desired outdoor locations using the provided mounting kits. Consider areas with good Wi-Fi signal and clear views. The Sync Module XR provides extended range for these cameras.

4. Install Mini 2 Camera

1. Plug the Mini 2 camera into a standard indoor power outlet using the provided USB-C cable and power adapter.
2. In the Blink app, add the Mini 2 camera by selecting "Add Device" and following the prompts. The Mini 2 connects directly to your home Wi-Fi network.
3. Place the Mini 2 camera on a flat surface or mount it using its attached stand in your desired indoor location.

Operating Your System

Once set up, you can manage and monitor your Blink cameras through the Blink Home Monitor app.

Live View and Two-Way Audio

• To view live footage from any camera, tap on the camera's thumbnail in the app.
• Use the microphone icon in the live view to speak through the camera's speaker (two-way audio).
• Use the speaker icon to hear audio from the camera's microphone.

Motion Detection and Activity Zones

• The Outdoor 4 features dual-zone, enhanced motion detection for faster alerts.

• Cloud Storage: A free 30-day trial of a Blink Subscription Plan is included, allowing secure cloud storage of motion-activated clips. After the trial, a subscription is required for continued cloud storage.

Alexa Integration

Battery Replacement (Outdoor 4)

• The Outdoor 4 cameras are powered by two AA lithium batteries, providing up to two years of battery life under normal use.
• When the app indicates low battery, replace both batteries with new, non-rechargeable AA lithium batteries. Do not mix old and new batteries or different battery types.
• Ensure the camera is dismounted and the battery compartment is securely closed after replacement to maintain weather resistance.

Cleaning

• Gently wipe the camera lens and body with a soft, damp cloth to remove dust and dirt.
• Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive materials that could damage the camera.

Firmware Updates

Connectivity Issues

• Camera Offline: Check the camera's battery level (Outdoor 4) or power connection (Mini 2). Ensure the camera is within range of the Sync Module XR (for Outdoor 4) or your Wi-Fi router (for Mini 2).
• Sync Module Offline: Verify the Sync Module XR is plugged in and its indicator light is solid blue. Restart your home router and the Sync Module XR.
• Extended Range (XR) for Outdoor 4: The Sync Module XR supports extended range for up to two Outdoor 4 cameras in XR mode (up to 250 feet) and XR+ mode (up to 400 feet). Additional cameras beyond two will connect via standard Wi-Fi range. If you have more than two Outdoor 4 cameras and experience range issues, consider optimizing Sync Module placement or adding another Sync Module if necessary for optimal XR performance.

Motion Detection Not Working / Delayed

• Check Settings: Ensure motion detection is enabled for the camera in the Blink app. Verify Activity Zones are correctly configured and not excluding the area of interest.
• Sensitivity: Adjust the motion sensitivity setting in the app. Higher sensitivity detects smaller movements.
• Placement: Ensure the camera has a clear line of sight and is not obstructed. Avoid placing cameras where direct sunlight or heat sources might cause false triggers.
• Internet Speed: A stable and sufficient internet connection is crucial for timely alerts and video uploads.

Poor Video Quality

• Network Strength: Weak Wi-Fi signal can lead to lower resolution or choppy video. Try moving the camera or Sync Module closer to the router, or consider a Wi-Fi extender.
• Lighting: Ensure adequate lighting for clear daytime video. For night vision, ensure the area is within the infrared range and there are no reflective surfaces causing glare.
