Setup and Operating Instructions

Follow these steps to set up and operate your MEEDEN dual-action airbrush:

  1. Prepare the Airbrush: Ensure all components are securely assembled. For models with an adjusting screw (AR30, AR35), rotate it to prepare for air and paint flow. Model AR28 does not have an adjusting screw; proceed directly to step 2.
  2. Connect Air Source: Attach the airbrush to your air compressor or air source via the hose connector.
  3. Fill Fluid Cup/Bottle: Add your desired paint or medium to the gravity fluid cup (AR30, AR35) or siphon feed bottle (AR28). Ensure the paint is properly thinned for airbrush use.
  4. Dual-Action Trigger Operation:
    • Press Down: Press the main lever (trigger) down to initiate airflow through the airbrush.
    • Pull Back: While holding the lever down, pull it back to release paint from the nozzle and atomize it. The further back you pull, the more paint is released.
  5. Adjust Paint Flow: Use the preset fluid control knob (if available on your model) to limit how far back the needle can retract, allowing for consistent paint flow and fine line control.
Illustration of dual-action airbrush trigger operation: 1. Rotate adjusting screw, 2. Press down main lever for air, 3. Pull back main lever for paint.

Maintenance and Cleaning

Proper cleaning is essential for maintaining your airbrush's performance and longevity. Clean your airbrush immediately after each use, especially when changing colors or finishing a session.

  1. Empty Fluid Cup/Bottle: Remove any remaining paint from the fluid cup or siphon bottle.
  2. Initial Rinse: Using a cleaning brush, wash the cup/bottle with an appropriate cleaning solution (e.g., water for water-based paints, specific thinner for other paints). Spray the cleaning solution through the airbrush until the stream is clear.
  3. Back-Flush Cleaning: Refill the cup with cleaning solution. Block the needle cover with your finger and press down the trigger to allow air to flow. The air will flow backward into the nozzle, creating bubbles in the cup and cleaning paint residue from the nozzle area. Repeat until clean.
  4. Disassembly and Deep Clean (Periodically): For thorough cleaning, carefully disassemble the airbrush components (needle, nozzle, needle cap, nozzle cap). Clean each part with a suitable cleaning solution and specialized airbrush cleaning brushes. Reassemble carefully, ensuring not to overtighten delicate parts.
Three steps illustrating airbrush cleaning: 1. Emptying cup and rinsing, 2. Refilling with cleaner and blocking nozzle for back-flush, 3. Air flowing backward to clean.
