Please read this manual thoroughly before beginning installation or use to ensure proper function and safety.
2. Safety Information
Always prioritize safety during installation and use. Failure to follow these instructions may result in injury or damage to the product or motorcycle.
- Ensure the motorcycle is stable and turned off before beginning any installation.
- Wear appropriate personal protective equipment, such as gloves and eye protection.
- Do not exceed the maximum load capacity specified for your side cases or motorcycle.
- Regularly check all mounting bolts and fasteners for tightness, especially after the first few rides and before long journeys.
- Be aware that adding side cases can affect the motorcycle's handling, especially at high speeds or in windy conditions. Adjust your riding style accordingly.
- This product is not compatible with Shad TR36 and TR47 side cases. Ensure you are using compatible Shad side cases.
3. Package Contents

4. Setup & Installation
The Shad 3P System is designed for straightforward installation. Follow these steps carefully.
4.1 Tools Required
- Metric Allen key set
- Metric wrench set
- Torque wrench (recommended)
- Thread-locking compound (e.g., Loctite, recommended for critical fasteners)
4.2 Installation Steps
- Prepare the Motorcycle: Park the Yamaha MT09 on a level surface using its center stand or a paddock stand for stability. Ensure the engine is off and cool.
- Identify Mounting Points: Locate the designated mounting points on the motorcycle's subframe and passenger footpeg brackets. Refer to the specific diagrams provided with your kit for exact locations.
- Attach Rear Brackets: Secure the rear mounting brackets of the 3P System to the motorcycle's subframe using the provided bolts and spacers. Do not fully tighten at this stage.
- Attach Front Brackets: Connect the front mounting brackets to the passenger footpeg mounts. You may need to remove existing bolts and replace them with the longer ones supplied in the kit. Again, do not fully tighten.
- Mount Side Carrier Frames: Carefully position the left and right 3P System side carrier frames onto the attached brackets. Align all mounting holes.
- Secure Frames: Insert all remaining bolts and fasteners to secure the side carrier frames to the brackets.
- Align and Tighten: Once all bolts are in place, ensure the entire system is properly aligned and level. Begin to progressively tighten all bolts, starting from the main attachment points and working outwards. Use a torque wrench to tighten all fasteners to the motorcycle manufacturer's specifications or the torque values provided by Shad, if available. Apply thread-locking compound to critical fasteners as recommended.
- Final Check: Double-check all bolts for tightness. Gently shake the installed system to ensure it is rigid and secure.

5.1 Attaching Side Cases
- Align the three mounting points on the back of the Shad side case with the corresponding pins on the 3P System carrier.
- Gently push the side case onto the carrier until it clicks securely into place.
- Ensure the case is firmly attached by attempting to pull it away from the carrier without pressing the release mechanism.
- Lock the side case using its key to prevent accidental detachment and theft.
5.2 Detaching Side Cases
- Unlock the side case using its key.
- Locate the release lever or button, typically found near the top or inside the case.
- Press the release mechanism while simultaneously lifting the side case upwards and away from the 3P System carrier.
6. Maintenance
Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and safe operation of your Shad 3P System.
- Cleaning: Clean the carrier system with mild soap and water. Avoid abrasive cleaners or solvents that could damage the finish.
- Inspection: Periodically inspect the entire system for any signs of wear, damage, or corrosion. Check for loose bolts, cracks, or deformation.
- Fastener Check: Re-check the tightness of all mounting bolts at regular intervals, especially after the first 500 km (300 miles) and before long trips.
- Lubrication: If any moving parts or locking mechanisms on your side cases feel stiff, apply a small amount of silicone-based lubricant.
7. Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your Shad 3P System, refer to the following common problems and solutions.
