3. Setup Guide

Follow these steps for proper installation of your motherboard and components:

3.1 Safety Precautions

  • Always disconnect the power supply from the wall outlet before installing or removing any components.
  • Wear an anti-static wrist strap or frequently touch a grounded metal object to discharge static electricity.
  • Handle components by their edges to avoid touching sensitive circuits.

3.2 Motherboard Installation

  1. Prepare the PC Case: Install the I/O shield into the rear opening of your PC case.
  2. Install Standoffs: Ensure the correct standoffs are installed in your PC case to match the ATX form factor of the motherboard.
  3. Mount the Motherboard: Carefully place the motherboard into the case, aligning the screw holes with the standoffs. Secure it with screws.

3.3 CPU Installation (LGA 1150)

  1. Open the Socket: Lift the load lever and open the CPU socket cover.
  2. Insert CPU: Carefully align the CPU with the socket, ensuring the gold triangle on the CPU matches the triangle on the socket. Gently place the CPU into the socket without forcing it.
  3. Close the Socket: Close the socket cover and push down the load lever until it clicks into place.
  4. Install CPU Cooler: Apply thermal paste (if not pre-applied) and install the CPU cooler according to its manufacturer's instructions.

3.4 RAM Installation

  1. Open DIMM Clips: Open the clips at both ends of the DDR3 DIMM slots.
  2. Insert RAM: Align the notch on the DDR3 memory module with the key in the DIMM slot. Press down firmly on both ends of the module until the clips snap into place.

3.5 Storage Device Installation

  • SATA Drives: Connect SATA data cables from your storage drives (HDD/SSD) to the SATA ports on the motherboard. Connect SATA power cables from your power supply to the drives.
  • NVMe M.2 SSD: Insert the M.2 SSD into the NVMe M.2 slot at an angle, then gently push it down and secure it with the provided screw.

3.6 Expansion Card Installation

  1. PCIe x16 Graphics Card: Open the retention clip on the PCIe x16 slot. Align your graphics card with the slot and press down firmly until it is fully seated and the clip locks. Secure the card to the case with a screw.

3.7 Power Connections

  1. 24-pin ATX Power: Connect the main 24-pin ATX power connector from your power supply to the corresponding socket on the motherboard.
  2. 4-pin ATX 12V Power: Connect the 4-pin ATX 12V power connector (CPU power) to the socket near the CPU.

3.8 Front Panel Connections

Connect the front panel cables (Power LED, HDD LED, Power Switch, Reset Switch, USB, Audio) to their respective headers on the motherboard. Refer to the motherboard's silkscreen labels for correct pin assignments.

4. Operating Instructions

  • Driver Updates: Keep your device drivers (chipset, graphics, audio, LAN) updated to ensure optimal performance and compatibility with your operating system.

6. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues, refer to the following common troubleshooting steps:

  • No Power:
    • Check if the power supply is connected and switched on.
    • Ensure all power cables (24-pin ATX, 4-pin ATX 12V) are securely connected to the motherboard.
    • Verify that the front panel power switch cable is correctly connected to the motherboard header.
  • No Display:
    • Ensure the monitor is connected to the correct video output (either integrated graphics or dedicated graphics card).
    • Reseat the graphics card and RAM modules.
    • Try booting with only one RAM stick.
  • System Fails to Boot/POST:
    • Listen for beep codes from the motherboard speaker (if installed). Consult the BIOS manufacturer's documentation for beep code meanings.
    • Clear the CMOS by removing the CMOS battery for a few minutes or using the clear CMOS jumper (refer to motherboard layout).
    • Ensure the CPU is correctly seated and the CPU cooler is properly installed.
  • Peripheral Issues (USB, Audio, LAN):
    • Install or update the latest drivers from the FRONTECH website.
    • Check physical connections for loose cables.
