2. Safety Instructions

To ensure safe operation, always follow these basic safety precautions:

  • Read all instructions before operating the appliance.
  • Do not touch hot surfaces. Use handles or knobs.

4. Setup

  1. Unpack: Carefully remove all packaging materials and components from the box.
  2. Clean: Wash the removable water tank, K-pod holder, reusable filter basket, and drip tray with warm, soapy water. Rinse thoroughly and dry.
  3. Position: Place the coffee maker on a flat, stable, heat-resistant surface near an electrical outlet. Ensure adequate clearance around the unit.
  4. Fill Water Tank: Remove the 52 oz water tank from the back of the unit. Fill it with fresh, cold water up to the MAX fill line. Replace the water tank securely.

  5. Initial Rinse Cycle: Before brewing coffee, perform a rinse cycle to clean the internal components.
    • Ensure the water tank is filled.
    • Place an empty mug on the drip tray.
    • Do not insert any K-pod or ground coffee filter.
    • Press the "SIZE" button to select the largest brew size (14 oz).
    • Press the brew button (usually indicated by a coffee cup icon or start button) to begin the rinse cycle.
    • Discard the hot water. Repeat this process 2-3 times.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1 Brewing Hot Coffee (K-Pod)

  1. Ensure the water tank is filled with fresh, cold water.
  2. Lift the handle to open the K-pod chamber.
  3. Insert a K-pod into the K-pod holder. Close the handle firmly until it clicks.

  4. Place your mug on the drip tray. If using a taller mug, remove the drip tray.
  5. Press the "SIZE" button to select your desired brew size (6, 8, 10, 12, or 14 oz).

  6. (Optional) Press the "BOLD" button to select a stronger brew strength. The indicator light will illuminate.

  7. Press the brew button (often labeled "CAPSULE" or a coffee cup icon) to start brewing.
  8. Wait for the brewing cycle to complete. The machine will automatically stop.
  9. Carefully remove your hot coffee.

5.2 Brewing Hot Coffee (Ground Coffee/Tea)

  1. Ensure the water tank is filled with fresh, cold water.
  2. Lift the handle to open the K-pod chamber.
  3. Insert the reusable ground coffee filter basket into the chamber. Fill the basket with your desired amount of ground coffee or loose leaf tea (do not overfill). Close the handle firmly until it clicks.
  4. Place your mug on the drip tray.
  5. Press the "SIZE" button to select your desired brew size.
  6. (Optional) Press the "BOLD" button for a stronger brew.
  7. Press the brew button (often labeled "GROUND" or a coffee cup icon) to start brewing.
  8. Wait for the brewing cycle to complete.
  9. Carefully remove your hot beverage.

5.3 Brewing Iced Coffee

  1. Ensure the water tank is filled with fresh, cold water.
  2. Prepare your K-pod or ground coffee/tea as described in sections 5.1 or 5.2.
  3. Fill your serving cup with ice cubes. Place the cup on the drip tray (or directly on the base if using a tall cup).

  4. Press the "SIZE" button to select your desired brew size. Note that for iced coffee, a smaller brew size (e.g., 6-8 oz) is often recommended to prevent over-dilution from melting ice.
  5. (Optional) Press the "BOLD" button for a stronger brew, which is often preferred for iced coffee.
  6. Press the brew button (often labeled "OVER ICE" or a snowflake icon) to start brewing.
  7. The machine will brew at a lower temperature to minimize ice melt.
  8. Once brewing is complete, stir and enjoy your iced coffee.

6. Maintenance

Regular cleaning and maintenance will ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your SHARDOR coffee maker.

6.1 Daily Cleaning

  • Drip Tray: Remove and empty the drip tray after each use. Wash with warm, soapy water and rinse thoroughly.

  • K-Pod Holder & Filter Basket: After each use, remove and discard the used K-pod or ground coffee. Wash the holder/basket with warm, soapy water and rinse. All removable parts are dishwasher safe.
  • Water Tank: Empty any remaining water from the tank daily. Wash with warm, soapy water and rinse. Refill with fresh water before next use.
  • Exterior: Wipe the exterior of the coffee maker with a damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or immerse the unit in water.

6.2 Descaling

Mineral deposits (scale) can build up in your coffee maker over time, affecting performance and taste. The "DESCALING" indicator light on the control panel will flash when descaling is recommended.

To descale your coffee maker:

  1. Prepare Descaling Solution: Mix 10 oz of white vinegar with 20 oz of water. Alternatively, use a commercially available descaling solution designed for coffee makers, following its instructions.
  2. Fill Water Tank: Pour the descaling solution into the water tank.
  3. Run Cycles: Place a large mug on the drip tray. Run several brew cycles (e.g., 10 oz size) until the water tank is empty. Do not insert any K-pod or ground coffee filter during this process.
  4. Rinse: After the descaling solution has been run through, rinse the water tank thoroughly and fill it with fresh, cold water.
  5. Flush: Run 2-3 full water cycles (14 oz size) with fresh water to flush out any remaining descaling solution. Discard the water after each cycle.
  6. The "DESCALING" indicator light should turn off after successful descaling.
