Getting Started

Battery Installation

The Bosch GVD 1000-17 requires two 1.5 V LR03 (AAA) batteries for operation. These are typically included with the device.

  1. Twist the battery cap at the rear of the device counter-clockwise to open the battery compartment.
  2. Insert two AAA batteries, ensuring correct polarity (+ and - terminals match the markings inside the compartment).
  3. Replace the battery cap by twisting it clockwise until securely fastened.

Operating the Device

Power On/Off

Press the Power button (usually marked with an 'O' or power symbol) to turn the device on. The device will perform a self-test, indicated by flashing LEDs and an audible beep. To turn off, press and hold the Power button, or the device will automatically power off after a period of inactivity to conserve battery life.

Voltage Detection

The GVD 1000-17 offers dual voltage detection ranges for versatile applications:

To detect voltage:

  1. Turn on the device.
  2. Select the desired sensitivity mode using the Mode button (if available, refer to device markings).
  3. Place the detection tip near the wire, outlet, or component you wish to test.
  4. Observe the LED indicator, listen for the audible alarm, and feel for vibration.
  5. A green LED indicates no voltage. An orange LED indicates low voltage (24-90V AC). A red LED, combined with an audible beep and vibration, indicates the presence of AC voltage.

Flashlight Function

The integrated flashlight can be activated by pressing the Flashlight button. This feature is useful for illuminating dimly lit work areas. The flashlight can often be activated even when the voltage detection function is off.
