1. Introduction

Thank you for choosing the Beetel M71WS Caller ID Landline Phone. This manual provides detailed instructions for setting up, operating, and maintaining your new telephone. Please read this manual thoroughly to ensure proper use and to take full advantage of all its features.

The Beetel M71WS is designed for reliable communication, featuring a 16-digit LCD, two-way speakerphone, Caller ID functionality, music on hold, and memory for frequently dialed numbers and call logs.

2. Package Contents

3. Setup Instructions

3.1 Connecting the Telephone

  1. Connect one end of the coiled handset cord to the handset and the other end to the jack labeled 'HANDSET' on the side of the telephone base unit.
  2. Connect one end of the line cord to the jack labeled 'LINE' on the back of the telephone base unit.
  3. Connect the other end of the line cord to your telephone wall jack.

3.2 Battery Installation (Optional for certain features)

While the phone operates without batteries for basic functions, AA batteries are required to power the LCD display, Caller ID memory, and other advanced features. If you wish to utilize these features, install AA batteries into the battery compartment located on the underside of the telephone base unit. Ensure correct polarity (+/-) when inserting batteries.

3.3 Initial Setup

Once connected, the telephone will power on. The LCD will display the current date and time. You may need to set the date and time manually if it's not automatically updated by your telephone service. Refer to the 'Setting Date and Time' section in Operating Instructions.

4. Operating Instructions

4.1 Making and Receiving Calls

  • To Make a Call: Lift the handset or press the SPK button for speakerphone. Dial the desired number.
  • To Receive a Call: Lift the handset or press the SPK button when the phone rings.
  • To End a Call: Place the handset back on the cradle or press the SPK button if using speakerphone.

4.2 Caller ID Functionality

The 16-digit LCD displays the incoming caller's number (and name, if available and subscribed to Caller ID service). The phone stores up to 30 incoming call records.

  • Use the ADD/BACK/- and SET/FLASH buttons to scroll through incoming call records.
  • To redial an incoming number, select it from the call log and lift the handset or press SPK.

4.3 Two-Way Speakerphone

The integrated two-way speakerphone allows for hands-free communication. Press the SPK button to activate or deactivate the speakerphone during a call.

4.4 Music On Hold

During a call, press the HOLD button to place the caller on hold. Music will play for the caller. To resume the conversation, press the HOLD button again or lift the handset.

4.5 One-Touch Memories (M1-M6)

The phone features 6 one-touch memory buttons (M1-M6) for quick dialing of frequently used numbers.

  • To Store a Number: Lift the handset, press SET/FLASH, dial the number, press SET/FLASH again, then press the desired memory button (M1-M6).
  • To Dial a Stored Number: Lift the handset or press SPK, then press the desired memory button (M1-M6).

4.6 Call Memory (Incoming/Outgoing)

The phone stores up to 30 incoming call records and 15 outgoing call records. Use the navigation buttons (ADD/BACK/- and SET/FLASH) to review these logs.

4.7 Ring Melodies

The Beetel M71WS offers 16 different ring melodies. Consult the full user manual (if provided in print) for specific instructions on how to change the ring melody. Typically, this involves accessing a menu via the SET/FLASH button.

4.8 Mute, Hold, and Flash Functions

  • Mute: Press the MUTE button during a call to temporarily silence your microphone. The caller will not hear you. Press again to unmute.
  • Hold: Press the HOLD button to place the current call on hold.
  • Flash: The FLASH button (often combined with SET) is used for call waiting or transferring calls, depending on your telephone service provider.

4.9 In-Use LED Indication

The phone features an 'In-Use' LED indicator that illuminates when the phone line is active (during a call) and a 'Ring' LED indicator that flashes when there is an incoming call.

4.10 16-Digit LCD Display

5. Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Use a soft, damp cloth to clean the telephone's surface. Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners.
  • Placement: Place the telephone on a stable, flat surface. Avoid direct sunlight, excessive heat, or moisture.
  • Cords: Ensure all cords are securely connected and not tangled or pinched.
