3. Setup and Assembly

Follow these steps to assemble your Joie Kava Travel System:

3.1 Stroller Assembly

1. Unfold the Stroller Frame: Release the folding latch and unfold the frame until it clicks into place. Ensure it is fully locked open.
2. Attach Wheels: Insert the front and rear wheels into their respective slots until they click securely. Pull on the wheels to ensure they are firmly attached.
3. Attach Seat Unit: Align the seat unit with the attachment points on the stroller frame. Push down firmly until you hear a click, indicating it is securely fastened. Verify by gently pulling upwards on the seat.

3.2 Car Seat Attachment to Stroller

To attach the Mint Latch Car Seat to the Kava Stroller:

1. Ensure the stroller seat unit is removed (if applicable) or in the correct configuration for car seat attachment.
2. Align the car seat with the stroller's car seat adapters.
3. Lower the car seat onto the adapters until it clicks securely into place. Verify the connection by lifting the car seat slightly.

4. Operating Instructions

4.1 Stroller Operation

• Folding: Locate the folding mechanism (usually on the handlebar or side of the frame). Follow the specific steps to collapse the stroller into a compact form. Ensure all parts are clear before folding.

• Unfolding: Release the folding latch and extend the stroller frame until it locks into the open position.
• Seat Recline: Adjust the seat recline using the lever or strap mechanism on the back of the seat. Ensure the child is not in the seat when adjusting, or adjust carefully.
• Handlebar Adjustment: Press the buttons on the sides of the handlebar to adjust its height for comfortable pushing.
• Brake System: Engage the foot-operated brake lever located near the rear wheels to lock the stroller in place. Disengage to move. Always engage the brake when parking the stroller.
• Canopy Adjustment: Extend or retract the UPF 50+ canopy as needed for sun protection.

• Vehicle Installation (Base-Free): The Mint Latch Car Seat features built-in rigid lower anchor attachments. Locate the lower anchor points in your vehicle. Extend the car seat's lower anchor connectors and attach them to the vehicle's anchors. Push the car seat firmly into the vehicle seat back until it is secure. Refer to the car seat manual for detailed installation steps and proper angle indicators.
• Securing Your Child: Place your child in the car seat. Fasten the 3-point harness, ensuring the straps are snug against your child's body without twisting. The chest clip should be at armpit level.
• Harness Adjustment: Adjust the harness height as your child grows to ensure the shoulder straps are at or just below the child's shoulders when rear-facing.
