5. Operating Instructions
5.1 Starting and Stopping

5.2 Dethatching vs. Scarifying
- Dethatching: Use the dethatching blade to remove accumulated dead grass, leaves, and other organic matter (thatch) from the lawn surface. This improves air, water, and nutrient penetration to the soil.
- Scarifying: Use the scarifying blade to cut shallow grooves into the soil, which helps aerate the lawn, encourages new grass growth, and improves seed germination when overseeding.
For optimal results, consider dethatching in early spring or early fall. Scarifying is best done in early spring before new growth begins or in early fall for overseeding.

5.3 Operating Techniques
- Always operate the machine with a steady, forward motion. Do not pull the machine backward towards you.
- Overlap each pass slightly to ensure complete coverage.
- For heavily thatched lawns, multiple passes may be required. Change the direction of passes (e.g., perpendicular) for best results.
- Monitor the collection bag and empty it frequently to maintain optimal performance and prevent clogging.
