4. Setup

Follow these steps to set up your SKIL Compact Workbench.

4.1 Unfolding the Stand

  1. Place the folded stand on a flat surface.
  2. Carefully extend the legs until they lock into place, forming a stable 'X' shape.
  3. Ensure all locking mechanisms are engaged before proceeding.

4.2 Attaching the Workbench Top (Quick-Connect System)

  1. Align the quick-connect points on the workbench top with the corresponding receivers on the unfolded stand.
  2. Press down firmly until the workbench top clicks securely into place. This system allows for fast, tool-free attachment.
  3. Verify that the workbench top is firmly attached and does not wobble.

4.3 Installing the Dust Bag

  1. Locate the quick-install dust bag.
  2. Attach the dust bag to the designated hooks or clips on the stand, typically located beneath the workbench surface.
  3. Ensure the bag is securely fastened to collect debris effectively.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1 Using Clamping Controls

The workbench features integrated controls for clamping and securing various objects. These controls allow for precise adjustment to hold both small and large workpieces firmly in place.

  • Adjusting Jaws: Rotate the handle to open or close the workbench jaws.
  • Securing Workpiece: Place your material between the jaws and turn the handle until the workpiece is securely clamped. Do not overtighten.
  • Using Bench Dogs: Utilize the included bench dogs in the pre-drilled holes on the workbench surface for irregular shapes or additional clamping points.

5.2 Compatibility with Other SKIL Tools

The SKIL Compact Workbench is designed for compatibility with several other SKIL products (sold separately), enhancing its functionality.

  • Folding Stand Compatibility: The stand is compatible with SKIL Table Saws (models TS6308, TS6328) and the 5-1/2 In. Flooring Saw (model FS3602).
  • Workbench Compatibility: The workbench itself is compatible with the Portable Miter Saw Stand (model SRS0001) and the Rolling Tool Box 3 Pc. Tower Set (model TSM0002-3).

6. Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and optimal performance of your SKIL Compact Workbench.

  • Cleaning: After each use, wipe down the workbench surfaces with a damp cloth to remove dust and debris. Avoid harsh chemicals.
  • Dust Bag: Regularly empty the quick-install dust bag to maintain effective dust collection and prevent clogging.
  • Lubrication: Periodically apply a light lubricant to the clamping mechanism's moving parts to ensure smooth operation.
  • Storage: When not in use, fold the workbench flat for easy storage in a dry, protected area.

7. Troubleshooting
