4. Setup and Basic Operation

4.1. Charging the Device

The DBM-100 features a built-in rechargeable lithium battery. To charge, connect the provided USB-C cable to the TYPE C Power Input Interface (2) on the device and to a standard USB power adapter (not included). A full charge takes approximately 2.5 hours and provides up to 12 hours of use.

4.2. Power On/Off

Press and hold the Power/Play/Pause Button (17) to turn the device on or off.

4.3. Mode Selection

Press the Mode Switch (MENU button) (14) to cycle through the available modes: Tuner, Trainer, and Metronome.

5. Operating Modes

5.1. Tuner Mode

In Tuner mode, the device detects the pitch of your instrument. The display shows the detected note (7), its frequency in Hz (8), and a visual indicator of tuning accuracy (5).

5.1.1. Instrument Settings

The tuner supports 5 instrument tuning settings: Chromatic (C), Guitar (G), Ukulele (U), Bass (B), and Violin (V). Use the Function and Parameter Adjustment Buttons (11) to select the appropriate instrument mode.

5.1.2. Frequency Adjustment

The reference pitch (A4) can be adjusted from 430Hz to 450Hz. Use the Up/Down buttons (part of 11) to change the A4 frequency.

5.1.3. Tuning Indication

  • The needle on the display (5) indicates pitch deviation.
  • When the needle is centered and the LED indicator (10) turns green, the note is in tune.
  • If the needle is to the left, the note is flat. If to the right, the note is sharp.

5.2. Metronome Mode

The metronome provides a steady beat for rhythm practice. It offers a tempo range of 30-280 BPM and adjustable beat accents.

5.2.1. Tempo Setting

Use the Up/Down buttons (11) to adjust the tempo (BPM) from 30 to 280.

5.2.2. Beat Accent Setting

The metronome supports beat accents from 0 to 9. Use the Select button (11) to cycle through the beat settings and the Up/Down buttons to adjust the value.

5.2.3. Sound Sources

Press the Source button (16) to switch between 3 instrument sounds and 1 vocal count. The current sound source is indicated on the display (9).

5.2.4. Volume Adjustment

Adjust the output volume using the physical Output Volume Adjustment knob (13) on the side of the device. A 3.5mm headphone jack (1) is available for private practice.

5.2.5. Tempo Detection (TAP Function)

Press the TAP button (15) in rhythm with a song or desired tempo. The device will detect and display the BPM.

5.3. Trainer Rhythm Mode

This mode helps improve rhythm accuracy. The built-in microphone (12) detects your playing and provides visual feedback if your sound aligns with the current rhythm pattern.

5.3.1. Feedback Mechanism

  • The LED indicator (10) provides dynamic feedback.
  • A green light indicates correct timing.
  • Red lights indicate timing deviation (too early or too late).
  • This mode can be used for "blind test" training, where the metronome sound temporarily mutes, and you rely on the visual feedback.

5.4. Tone Generator Mode

The DBM-100 can generate specific tones for ear training or reference. To access this mode, first select TUNER mode using the Mode Switch (14). Then, use the Up/Down buttons (11) to adjust the pitch of the generated tone.

6. Maintenance

6.1. Cleaning

Wipe the device with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use liquid cleaners or abrasive materials.

6.2. Battery Care

To prolong battery life, avoid fully discharging the device frequently. Charge it regularly, even if not in constant use. Store in a cool, dry place.

6.3. Storage

When not in use for extended periods, store the DBM-100 in its original packaging or a protective case to prevent damage from dust or impacts.

7. Troubleshooting
