5. Setup

  1. Unpack: Carefully remove all components from the packaging.
  2. Assemble Soldering Iron Stand: Place the soldering iron stand on a stable, heat-resistant surface. Insert the cleaning sponge into its tray and moisten it slightly with water before use. The copper wire ball can be placed in the other tray.
  3. Attach Helping Hands: Insert the flexible arms of the helping hands into the designated holes on the soldering station base. Adjust their position as needed for your work.
  4. Connect Soldering Iron: Plug the soldering iron cable securely into the receptacle on the front of the soldering station.
  5. Install Soldering Tip: Ensure a soldering tip is securely installed in the soldering iron. The kit includes various tips for different applications.
  6. Connect Power: Plug the power cord into the soldering station and then into a suitable UK mains outlet (220V-240V/50Hz).

6. Operating Instructions

6.1 Power On/Off

Press the ON/OFF switch on the front panel to power on the soldering station. The LED display will illuminate, showing the current temperature. Press the switch again to power off.

6.2 Temperature Adjustment

Rotate the temperature control knob to set the desired temperature. The LED display will show the set temperature, then quickly return to displaying the actual tip temperature as it heats up or cools down. The temperature range is 90°C to 480°C.

6.3 Temperature Lock Function

To prevent accidental temperature changes during operation, use the temperature lock function. Once your desired temperature is set, slide the lock switch (located near the temperature knob) to the locked position. This will maintain the set temperature until unlocked.

6.4 Auto Sleep Mode

The soldering station features an automatic sleep mode to conserve energy and extend tip lifespan. If the soldering iron is inactive for 10 minutes, it will automatically enter sleep mode, indicated by "SLP" on the display. To wake the iron, gently shake it, press any button, or cycle the power.

6.5 Changing Soldering Tips

Always ensure the soldering iron is cool and disconnected from power before changing tips. Unscrew the retaining collar, carefully remove the old tip, insert the new tip, and then re-secure the collar. Avoid overtightening.

6.6 Soldering Techniques

Apply a small amount of solder to the tip to 'tin' it before use. Heat the component lead and PCB pad simultaneously with the iron tip, then apply solder to the heated joint, not directly to the iron. Remove the iron and allow the solder to cool and solidify before moving the joint.

6.7 Desoldering

The kit includes a desoldering pump and desoldering braid for removing solder. To use the pump, heat the solder joint, then quickly place the pump nozzle over the molten solder and press the release button to suction it away. For desoldering braid, place the braid over the solder joint, heat the braid with the iron, and the solder will wick into the braid.

Two methods for removing solder joints: desoldering rope and solder sucker

7. Maintenance

7.1 Tip Cleaning

Regularly clean the soldering iron tip to ensure optimal performance and longevity. Use the included copper wire ball or damp sponge to wipe off excess solder and oxidation. Always re-tin the tip with fresh solder after cleaning.

7.2 General Cleaning

Ensure the unit is powered off and cool before cleaning. Wipe the exterior of the soldering station and iron handle with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.

7.3 Storage

When not in use, store the soldering iron in its stand. Disconnect the power cord and store the entire kit in a dry, safe place, away from dust and moisture.
