2. Safety Information

  • Always read and follow all instructions carefully before beginning installation.
  • Ensure the pool area is clear of debris and sharp objects that could damage the liner.
  • Work in a well-ventilated area.
  • Do not attempt to install the liner in temperatures below 70°F (21°C) as this can make the vinyl stiff and difficult to work with, potentially leading to creases or damage.
  • Keep children and pets away from the installation area.
  • Properly dispose of all packaging materials.

3. Package Contents

Verify that all components are present and undamaged before proceeding with installation. Your package should contain:

  • Smartline 24 ft Round Manor Beaded Pool Liner
  • Skimmer gaskets
  • Return gaskets

4. Setup and Installation

Accurate measurements are crucial for a proper fit. Before ordering and installation, measure your pool's height (from the ground to the underside of the top rail) and diameter (from the center of one wall to the center of the opposite wall).

4.1 Pre-Installation Steps

  1. Inspect Pool Structure: Ensure your pool wall and frame are structurally sound and level. Repair any damage before installing the new liner.
  2. Prepare Pool Base: The pool base must be smooth, clean, and free of any sharp objects, rocks, or debris. A sand or foam base is recommended.
  3. Warm the Liner: Unfold the liner and allow it to warm in the sun for several hours at temperatures between 70-80°F (21-27°C). This makes the vinyl more pliable and easier to work with, helping to prevent creases.

4.2 Liner Installation (Beaded Style)

This liner is a beaded style, specifically designed for Esther Williams and Johnny Weissmuller pools. It features a thick, specialized bead for a secure fit. Note: This liner is not compatible with a Standard Bead Receiver.

  1. Position the Liner: Carefully place the liner into the pool, centering it as much as possible. Ensure the floor seam is centered and level.
  2. Attach the Bead: Starting from one point, gently push the liner's bead into the bead receiver track around the top edge of the pool wall. Work your way around the entire circumference, ensuring the bead is fully seated in the track.
  3. Smooth Wrinkles: Once the bead is fully installed, begin smoothing out any wrinkles from the center of the pool outwards. The warmed vinyl will assist in this process.
  4. Install Skimmer and Return Fittings: Once the liner is partially filled with water (approximately 6-12 inches), carefully cut out the openings for the skimmer and return fittings. Install the provided gaskets and faceplates according to your pool's specific instructions.
  5. Fill the Pool: Continue filling the pool, periodically checking for any remaining wrinkles and smoothing them out as the water level rises.

5. Operating

Once installed and filled, your Smartline pool liner is ready for use. Maintain proper water chemistry and filtration as recommended by your pool system manufacturer to ensure the longevity of both your pool and liner.

6. Maintenance

Regular maintenance will extend the life and appearance of your pool liner.

  • Water Chemistry: Maintain balanced water chemistry (pH, alkalinity, sanitizer levels) to prevent damage to the liner material. Avoid excessive chemical concentrations.
  • Cleaning: Regularly brush the liner to prevent algae growth and dirt buildup. Use only pool-specific cleaning tools and chemicals that are safe for vinyl liners. Avoid abrasive cleaners or brushes.
  • UV Protection: The Lamiclear technology in your Smartline liner provides resistance to UV fading. However, consistent proper water chemistry also contributes to maintaining the liner's color and integrity over time.
  • Winterization: Follow proper pool winterization procedures for your region to protect the liner from freezing temperatures and ice damage.

7. Troubleshooting

  • Wrinkles: Small wrinkles during initial fill can often be smoothed out by hand. Ensure the liner was sufficiently warmed before installation. If wrinkles persist after the pool is full, they may be permanent.
  • Bead Pulling Out: If the liner bead pulls out of the receiver, ensure the bead receiver track is clean and undamaged. Re-seat the bead firmly. Extreme water pressure or improper installation can cause this.
  • Leaks: If you suspect a leak, inspect the liner for visible tears or punctures. Small holes can sometimes be repaired with a vinyl patch kit designed for pool liners. For larger damage or persistent leaks, professional assistance may be required.
  • Fading/Discoloration: While the liner is fade-resistant, improper water chemistry, especially high chlorine levels or prolonged exposure to direct sunlight without proper chemical balance, can affect the liner's appearance over time.
