4. Setup Instructions
4.1. Wi-Fi Gateway Setup (Sold Separately)
- Plug the MAXCIO Wi-Fi Gateway into a standard power outlet. Ensure it is within range of your 2.4G Wi-Fi network.
- Download the 'Smart Life' app from your smartphone's app store (available for iOS and Android).
- Open the Smart Life app and follow the on-screen instructions to add the gateway. This typically involves creating an account, selecting 'Add Device', and following the pairing process for a Wi-Fi gateway.
4.2. Water Leak Detector Sensor Setup
- Each sensor comes with pre-installed AA batteries. Locate the small plastic pull tab extending from the battery compartment.
- Pull and remove this tab to activate the sensor's battery. The sensor will emit a short beep or flash to indicate it is powered on.
- Within the Smart Life app, follow the instructions to add the water leak detectors. The app should automatically detect nearby sensors for pairing with the gateway.
- Once paired, you can assign a custom name to each sensor (e.g., "Kitchen Sink," "Basement Water Heater") for easy identification in case of an alert.

5. Operating Instructions
5.1. Sensor Placement
Strategically place the water leak detectors in areas prone to water leaks or drips. The sensors are designed with both top and bottom probes to detect water from any direction. Common placement areas include:
- Under kitchen and bathroom sinks
- Near water heaters, washing machines, and dishwashers
- In basements, utility rooms, and crawl spaces
- Adjacent to toilets or bathtubs

5.2. Leak Detection and Alerts
When water makes contact with the sensor probes, the device will:
- Trigger a loud 110dB audible alarm directly from the sensor to alert anyone nearby.
- Send an instant push notification to your smartphone via the Smart Life app, indicating the specific sensor that detected the leak (if custom names are assigned).

5.3. Customization Features
- Sensor Naming: Use the Smart Life app to assign unique, descriptive names to each sensor (e.g., "Laundry Room Washer," "Basement Sump Pump"). This helps pinpoint the exact location of a leak.
- Ringtone and Volume: The app allows you to personalize the alert ringtone and adjust the volume of the gateway alarm to suit your preferences and environment.

6. Maintenance
6.1. Battery Replacement
The sensors are powered by 2 AA alkaline batteries, offering up to two years of battery life. The Smart Life app will send a notification when a sensor's battery is running low.
- When a low battery alert is received, use the provided small screwdriver to carefully open the sensor's battery compartment. The screws are typically located under the rubber feet on the bottom of the device.
- Replace the old batteries with two new AA alkaline batteries, ensuring correct polarity.
- Securely close the battery compartment. The IP66 waterproof rating requires the compartment to be properly sealed after battery replacement.

6.2. Cleaning
Wipe the exterior of the sensors and gateway with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents. Ensure the sensor probes are free from debris for optimal performance.
7. Troubleshooting
- No App Notifications: Ensure your Wi-Fi gateway is powered on and connected to a 2.4G Wi-Fi network. Check your smartphone's notification settings for the Smart Life app.
- Sensor Not Pairing: Verify the sensor's battery tab has been removed. Ensure the sensor is within range of the Wi-Fi gateway. Restart the pairing process in the Smart Life app.
- False Alarms: Check the sensor probes for any moisture or conductive debris. Ensure the sensor is placed on a dry surface, away from condensation or high humidity if not intended for such environments.
- Alarm Volume: Adjust the alarm volume and ringtone settings through the Smart Life app.
