Setup Guide

1. Identify Ports

Familiarize yourself with the input, output, and power delivery (PD) ports on the VANGREE USB C Capture Card.

2. Connecting for Gaming Console Capture (e.g., Nintendo Switch)

  1. Connect your gaming console (e.g., Nintendo Switch) to the USB-C Input port on the capture card using the provided USB-C cable.
  2. Connect the USB-A Output or USB-C Output from the capture card to your laptop or desktop computer.
  3. For charging your console simultaneously, connect a 100W PD power adapter (15V or higher for Switch) to the PD port on the capture card.

3. Connecting for Mobile Device Capture (e.g., iPhone, iPad, Android)

  1. Connect your mobile device (e.g., iPhone 15/16, iPad Pro, Samsung Galaxy S23/S24 Ultra) to the USB-C Input port on the capture card.
  2. Connect the USB-A Output or USB-C Output from the capture card to your laptop or desktop computer.
  3. If your mobile device supports PD charging, you can connect a PD charger to the PD port on the capture card.

4. Connecting for VR Headset Capture (e.g., Meta Quest)

  1. Connect your VR headset (e.g., Meta Quest 2/3/Pro) to the USB-C Input port on the capture card.
  2. Connect the USB-A Output or USB-C Output from the capture card to your laptop or desktop computer.
  3. Ensure your VR headset is powered adequately.

Software Compatibility

The VANGREE USB C Capture Card is plug-and-play and compatible with popular streaming and recording software. No additional drivers are required.

Using with OBS Studio (Example)

Follow these steps to set up your VANGREE USB C Capture Card with OBS Studio:

  1. Add a New Source: In OBS Studio, click the "+" button under the "Sources" panel.
  2. Select Video Capture Device: Choose "Video Capture Device" from the list.
  3. Name the Source: Give your new source a descriptive name and click "OK".
  4. Configure Video Source:
    • From the "Device" drop-down list, select "VC-001 Video".
    • Set the "Resolution" to "1920x1080" and "Frame rate" to "60" (or "Simple FPS Values" to 60).
    • Set "Input format" to "YUY2 - 422YpCbCr8_yuvs" for better quality and lower latency.
    • Set "Color space" to "Rec. 709" and "Video range" to "Limited".
  5. Add Audio Input Capture:
    • Click the "+" button again under "Sources".
    • Choose "Audio Input Capture".
    • From the "Device" drop-down list, select "VC-001".
  6. Adjust Audio Monitoring:
    • In the "Audio Mixer" section, click the gear icon next to your audio source.
    • Set "Audio Monitoring" to "Monitor Only (mute output)" or "Monitor and Output" as needed.

Maintenance

  • Keep the device in a dry environment and avoid extreme temperatures.
  • Clean the device with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use liquid cleaners.
  • Avoid bending or stressing the integrated cables excessively to prevent damage.
  • Ensure proper ventilation around the device during extended use, as it may generate some heat.

Troubleshooting

  • No Signal/Device Not Recognized:
    • Ensure all cables are securely connected.
    • Try reconnecting the capture card to a different USB port on your computer.
    • Restart your computer and the source device.
    • Verify that your source device is outputting video correctly.
    • For iPads, ensure it has a USB-C port and is running iPadOS 17 or later.
  • Device Gets Warm During Use:
    • It is normal for the device to generate some heat during operation, especially with Power Delivery enabled or during prolonged use. Ensure it has adequate airflow.
  • Lag or Stuttering Video:
    • Ensure your computer meets the minimum system requirements for your streaming/recording software.
    • Close unnecessary applications running in the background.
    • Verify that your USB port is USB 3.0 for optimal bandwidth.
    • In OBS, ensure the video format is set to YUY2 for better performance.
  • Nintendo Switch 2 Incompatibility:
    • The VANGREE USB C Capture Card is not compatible with Nintendo Switch 2.
